Mrs. Aldin Purdon, who spent the
past two weeks in London returned
home on Friday.
Neighbours and friends gathered
last Wednesday nikr the home of Mrs.
;fames Falconer and raked his hay,
baled it, and spent the afternoon get-
ting it safely stowed away in the barn
before the rain came down. Mr. Fal-
coner was able to return home from
Wingham Hospital on Friday, after
spending nine weeks there.
Rev. Harry Lockhart, his son, aln
and Mrs. J. Lockhart, and their two
daughters, from Moosomin, Sask.,
spent last Friday at the former's )1d

Jack Coultes, who had been visiting

Mr. and Mrs.. Clarence Baird of
Flint Mich., spent the week-end at
the home of his uncle, Mr. Adam
Robertson, and the Robertsons, Mr.
and Mrs. Gordon McBurney and
family, Me and Mrs. Dawson Craig
and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Peacock
and family of Bluevale, gathered with
the Bairds at Harbour Park, Gocier-
ich, for a family get-together before
the Bairds left for their home on
Sunday.
Mrs. Spence Currie of Fostoria,
Ohio, formerly Mabel Shiell, has been
visiting during the past week with
Currie and Shiell families and rela-
tives, in Wingham and E. Wawanosh.
Rev. Mr. Dunlop of Williamsburg,
near Ottawa, who is spending his
holidays at a cottage at Bruce Beach,
conducted the services in Brick Un-
ited Church on Sunday and renewed
old acquaintances at Belgrave and
Brick, telling the folks he kept track
of them through The Advance-Times
columns. While here they were guests
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie
Wightman. There will be no service
in Brick Church next Sunday which
will be visitors' day.
Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Scott and
family of Alma, Peel Co., spent the
week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Norman
Coultes of E. Wawanosh.
Mr. John Knowles of Preston, has
been visiting during the past week
at the home of his daughter, Mrs.

for three years, Induction services
will be held this Friday evening in

Mr, Watt, when his father, Rev. W, J.
Watt will conduct the service and
Rev, C. 33. Woolley of Ashfield United
Church will assist him. Rev. and. Mrs,
Robert Watt and family of Gorrie,
are visiting this week with Rev. and
Mrs. W. Watt and Dr, Donald Watt
of Toronto spent the week-end there.

spending this week at the home of

home last week from motoring to
Birch River, Manitoba, where he left

Mr. and Mrs. Will Shaw of New
Toronto, and her sister, Mrs. Hugh
Anderson, of Buffalo, spent a few
days last week at the home of their
sister, Mrs. Mac Ross and with other
Lucknow and Wingham relatives.
Mr. Melvin Morrison and Mr. Gor-
don Morrison have been very ill dur-
ing the past week with a bad attack
of the flu, and the letter has been a.
patient in Wingham Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Smith of
Markdale, spent the week-end at the
Golf club. A nine-hole course
carved 'from the rock, sand and
scrub bush and using a crashed Da-
kota for a clubhouse, it at least gives
the golfer a chance to try out his

spending three weeks at St. Themes
and Detroit, with their aunt,

in Goderich on Sunday to see the
four Fairmile training ships of the
H.M.C.S. Prevost, London, which were
docked there for the week-end. Each
ship had a group of 17 boys from 17
to 18 years old for two weeks' train-
ing. At the end of that time they have
a stiff exam on codes, radio, steering
and all lines of seamanship. They left •
on Tuesday for Fort William.
