Mrs. James Peacock has returned
home after spending several weeks
with her son, George and Mrs. Pea-
cock at Ottawa, She was met at Pet-
erboro by Mrs. W. J. Peacock.
Mr. and Mrs. James Johnston, Mr.
and Mrs. John Young, their daughter,
Mrs. Gordon Bosworth, their grand-
daughter, Linda Bosworth, Toronto,
and Mrs. Gus Boyle of Wingham, vis-
ited with Mr. and Mrs. Thos, Field
at the home of Miss Duff.
Mr, and Mrs, Leonard Gates of
Cherrywood, visited Mr. Robert Shaw
at the home of Mr. and. Mrs, Milton
Fraser and with other relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. George Thomson spent
Saturday with Mr, and Mrs. Albert
Barry at Sarnia. They were accom-
panied by Mrs. Arthur Shaw, who vis-
ited her relatives, Rev. Prof. Alfred
Johnston and Mrs, Johnston and their
daughter, Mrs, !.Dal Logan.
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Johnston ac-
companied Mr, and Mrs. Carl John-
ston and family to the Speiran-Spar-
ling family re-union at Stratford on
Saturday,
Mrs, Joseph Greenaway and daugh-
ter, Miss Dorothy, Mrs. Leslie Green-
away, John and Karen, attended the
Ogram re-union at Elora on Saturday.
Miss Marian MacDonald attended
the Zinn-Graham wedding at South
Kinloss Presbyterian Church on Sat-
urday and played the wedding music.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hamilton were
at Fergus on Caturday and were the
guests at the Golden Wedding Anni-
versary of their aunt and uncle, Mr.
and Mrs. Joseph K. Thompson.
Mrs. Wheeler and Miss Luella
Brewer of London, spent Sunday with
their brothers, George and Charley
Brewer.
L Meeting
The Bluevale Women's Institute
met Thursday afternoon at the home
of Miss Emma Johnston. The vice-
president, Miss Wilda Breckenridge,
presided. Miss Margaret Curtis gave
the financial report showing that
$100.70 had been collected for the
Salvation Army. Capt. de Vries col-
lected the 1st. line of Morris. The
sum of $17.00 had been forwarded to
the Women's Auxiliary of the Wing-
ham General Hospital. The collection
at the District Annual meeting
amounted to $38.95, expenses, $36.12,
the sale of eats at the close of the
meeting brought $13.15. The roll call,
"What Impressed Me most at the
District Annual Meeting" brought
some interesting comments. Discus-
sions centred around Blue Cross Hos-
pitalization and the care of the ceme-
tery. Mrs, Eldred Nichol described
important current events. Mrs. M. L.
Aitken gave a report of the confer-
ence held at Guelph in May. Mrs.
Harold Hamilton conducted a con-
test, proverbs with a blank to be filled
by a word ending with "ty" which was
won by Mrs. J. H. Smith and Mrs.
Carl Johnston. It was decided to hold
the July meeting on July 10th instead
of July 12th., at the home of Mrs.
Raymond Elliott and will be in the
form of a picnic. Refreshments were
served by Mrs. James Elliott, Mrs.
Eldred Nichol and Miss Dorothy
Greenaway.
• "United Mission Band
Eleanor Smith opened the meeting
of the Mission Band, at the United
Church, with quiet music followed by
the singing of "For the Beauty of the
Earth." Jean Hall read a poem entit-
led "June." The roll call was answer-
' ed by naming something that God has
put into the world to make it more
beautiful. All repeated the Mission
Band Purpose and a prayer for Mis-
sionaries. ,The birthday song was
sung for Miss Margaret Curtis and
Etoille Moffatt, Elizabeth McKinney
read an article on "Peace." and Mrs,
W. J. Johnston told the story from
the study book, Kay Johnston, Susan
Yeo and their group had charge of
the worship service, World Friends
was distributed and the meeting clos-
ed with the benediction.
