Our sympathy is extended to Mrs. Clifford Cooke, whose father, Mr. Garnet Wright, a llfe-long resident of Lakelet, passed away last Tuesday. Funeral service was held on Fricia.y from his late residence with inter- ment in Lakelet cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Wade were guests at the Vogan-Watson wedding in London on Saturday. Mrs. Elizabeth Armstrong returned on Sunday after a week's visit in Wingham with Mr, and Mrs. John Sangster. Mr. Wilbur McCracken is at present a patient in Victoria Hospital, Lon- don. Miss Myrtle Short is in Toronto this week attending the funeral of a friend, Mr, Livingstone of that city. The male quartette from the Gorrie United Church assisted by Mrs, L. Brothers of Wroxeter, took part in the program at a garden party in Donegal on Monday night. Members of the Howiek Junior Far- mers were in Mitchell on Saturday for the annual Perth-Huron Jr. Far- mers Field Day. A dance group from the Howick 'branch were-'winners in the square dance competitiOn. The sympathy of the Community is extended to Mrs. W. J. Gallaher in her bereavement in the death of her husband, Mr. W. J. Gallaher. W.M.S. Meets The June meeting of the Women's Missionary Society Auxiliary was held on Thursday evening at the home of Mrs, E. Bradnock. The worship ser- vice opened with quiet music by the pianist, Mrs. L. N. Whitley, followed by the hymn "Holy Spirit Hear Us," Mrs. E, Whitfield had charge of the worship period and gave a reading cn "Witnessing," Mrs. Frances Earngey sang a solo "Sweet Hour of Prayer." Mrs. Glad Edgar and Mrs. A. Taylor gave the report of the Presbyterial in Exeter. "Sweet Peace the 'Gift of God" was sung with Mrs. Earngev taking the solo part. Mrs. Whitfield gave a poem "Why Pray?" Coultes, seconded by Sam Alcock that the tender of George Radford, to clean and repair the Kelly Drain according to Engin- eer's specifications for the sum of $3630.00 be accepted. Carried. Moved by Sam Moods, seconded by Wm, Peacock that the Brussels Agri "Thou Glorious God before Whose Face," was followed by the business with Mrs. W. Strong, president, pre- siding. Plans were made for a bale of used clothing to be donated, Mrs. W, Trimble was appointed Temper- ance and Christian Citizenship con- vener. Meeting, The Woman's Association will meet on Thursday, June 14th., at the home of Mrs, Percy Ashton, Group 2 in charge of the program. Women's Auxiliary The W.A, of St. Stephen's Church held its regular meeting at the home of Mrs. Ernest King on Thursday afternoon, with an attendance of fif- teen. The ladies sewed for the bale which will be packed on June 21st., at the home of Mrs. Mel. Gilitinson. The president, Mrs. Norman Wade, Presided for the devotional meeting which opened with the roll call, ans- wered by a verse having the word "Power." The Bible reading by Mrs. W. C. King was from Acts, 1: 6-12. The president read from the Living Message of the power received ny the disciples at Whitsuntide for their ministry and the promise that the Holy Spirit would do the same for us if we but ask. Mrs, Ritchie and Mrs. R. Bennett read of Missionary work in the far north among the Indians and of the Mohawk Institute at Brantford. Matters of business were discussed and it was decided to have a supper in September, instead of a garden party.
