The parents of Kennedy Purdy of
Shelburne, Nova Scotia, are now con-
vinced their four-year-old son wants
to live dangerously, All this happened
in one week; on Tuesday, Kennedy
fell from a wharf. But he was hauled
out of the water, apparently suffering
no ill effects. Friday, fully recovered,
he made an appearance at the local
newspaper to tell the press his story.
The interview over, Kennedy headed
for the store across the street to get
an ice cream cone, A taxi hit him.
Doctors say Kennedy escaped serious
injury. His parents are now assured
he'll live, But it's anybody's guess
what Kennedy will live to be,
A pilot swooped his two-passenger
light plane down on a highway be-
tween Brantford and Hamilton. He
taxied to the nearest gas station and
said; "Fill 'er up."
Startled attendant George Gam-
amok fed high-octane gasoline into
the plane and the pilot taxied down
the highway and took off again. Gam-
mack didn't think it was unusual. "All
in a day's work."
Early morning listeners to a radio
disc jockey in Annapolis. Maryland,
were startled recently by strange
sounds coming over the air, The joc-
key bills himself as the "sleepless"
one. Police called to the station's
studio found what they expected all
along,.
"The sleepless one," with his head
on a turn-table, was fast asleep.
Life is a boundless privilege, and
when you pay for your ticket, and get
into tie car, you have no guess what
good lotnpany you will find thetze.

They Tell Me Ifs True
Just like any other female, it turns
out the cow has a sweet tooth and
can't resist a pastry,
At least that's the report from
Farmer John Stephenson of Burton,
Kansas, Stephenson says one of his
herd --"lady" by name—slipped from
her pasture near the edge of town
and wandered into the business dis-
trict.
After that, "Lady" didn't act one,
Before a grocery store, Lady spotted
a bread truck loaded with an order
of bakery goods. She dived in with
relish. By later count, she consumed
45 of the 48 loaves of bread in two
bakery boxes, Then she discovered the
pies, cakes and doughnuts under-
neath,
Rut just as she was getting well
into these delicacies, a passerby in-
terrupted the country cow's city ex-
tied in an alley , full of fine food „
and quite content!
The hard-boiled Royal Canadian
'Mounties also do a little tamer work,
This spring, the Mounties at Halifax,
Nova Scotia, are conducting target
classes for boys 14 years old and up.
Said a police official . "Kids are
going to hunt and it'll be safer for
them and for everybody else if we
teach them to shoot right,"
Ten-year-old Joe McLennan of Au-
, rora, Ontario, has discovered that ex-
perience is the hardest teacher,
Joe wondered what would happen
if he tossed a fire cracker into a
truck's gasoline tank. The explosion
knocked him ten feet, But he came
out unhurt.
You've heard the story of Moham-
med and the Mountain, Well, here's
a similar case out of Joiner , Ark-
ansas.
Men working in the cotton fields
couldn't get time to go into town to
get haircuts, So a barbershop came
to them, All work In the fields stop-
ped as a tractor driver set up a field
operation and began giving shaves
and haircuts.
Police in St. Catharines, Ontario,
say they'll give the tieindentified man
his smile back as soon as he calls for
it. The man is reported to have crawl-
ed into a parked car for a snooze.
When the owner returned the man
fled—leaving behind, his false teeth,
Now Police have the dentures and
are awaiting the man without them,
No charge will be laid against him.
It's the opinion of the police that
a day without teeth. is punishment
enough for any offense.

Harrison & Son gas truck was unload,
ed into the main underground tank
about 7.15 p.m, the boy climbed atop
the back end of the truck, His dad
was driving that clay' fox Mr. Harris,
Unknown to Mr. .Hornett Jack was

Reportedly Jack hollered down the
open dome cover of the back com-
partment, which contained 40 gallons
of gasoline that was being unloaded.
When his voice echoed he pulled his
cap PistPl and fired it, The f umes
floating about the dome cover im-
mediately exploded and the boy was

burning truck to the street away from
the service station, It was allowed to
burn out as it was an exterior fire
fed by gas fumes. The truck was

A NEW VERSION
In United Church Sunday School
last Sabbath morning, which was
Mother's Day, the question was asked:
"What day is this?"
One bright young gaffer piped up:
"Ladies' Day!"—Teeswater News.
WOW
When 'We* was set to music, •
In the long ago;
.There was music in the evenings,
Round the fire's bright glow,
There was music round the table,
With its humble fare,
And dreams were full of music,
For •Content was there,
Now, work is all a bugbear,
All a hateful thing,
And the meal-time or the evenings
Little gladness bring.
There's a constant fret and grumble—
Man and work estranged—
But surely it's the motive,
Not the work that's changed.
If work was set to music,
As it used to be,
The hard of heart might soften
To the harmony.
Each might realize his calling
In the great Life span,
As service to his Master
And his fellowman.
—John Roebuck,
