Potter returned from Glamis last
week where they attended the funer-
al of their brother-in-law, the late
John Metcalfe.
Miss Janet Varalyan of Grand Rap-
ids, Mich., is spending some time with
her grandmother, Mrs, W, Lynn,
Mr, and Mrs. Robt.. Graham and
Mr. and Mrs, Ewart Whitfield attend-
ed the funeral of the late Mrs. Rich-
ard Milligan, near Clifford, on Fri-
day.
Bobbie returned Sunday
from St. Joseph's Hospital, London,
and is making a good recovery.

has been visiting in Toronto, return-
ed with them,
Rev. Dean Smith of London, was
the preacher at the Presbyterian
Church on Sunday, Mr, Smith has
recently been ordained to the minis-
try of the Presbyterian Church.
Mr. and Mrs, 0, Vogan and son,
Mr. Don Vogan, and Miss June Wat-
son, all of London, visited with the
former's son, Rev, G. Douglas Vogan
on Sunday.

On Monday morning Wm. James
Lynn, 74, passed away at his home
in Carrie. Although in poor health
for some time his last illness from
a cerebral hemorrhage was only of a
few days' duration.
He was a son of the late James
Lynn and Louise Eeltmier and was
born on tilt , 2nd con. of Grey Town-
ship. He farmed in Howiek Town-
ship, near Fordwich, retiring to Gor-
rie eight years ago, He was a mem-
ber of Gerrie United Church, In
1926 he was married to Henrietta
Bunston Gray, who survives, A sis-
ter, Mrs, W. Hainstock (Elizabeth),
Fordwich, and a brother, John, of
Windsor, also five stepchildren: Ger-
ry Gray, Sudbury; Wm. Gray, Wind-
sor; Ken Gray, Arnprior; Mrs. Dor-
othy Holland, Paris, and Mrs. Ed.
Van Ryan, Grand Rapids, Mich., sur-
vive.
Funeral service was conducted by
Rev. J. R. Watt at the T. V. Edgar
funeral home, Mrs. Stewart Mac-
Naughton and Mrs, Harold Hamilton,
Bluevale, sang "Some Day the Silver ,
Cord Will Break".
Pallbearers were: Theo. Hainstock,
Jack Brown, Murray Lynn, Robert
Connell, Ray Cooper and Jas. Ed-
wards. Flower bearers were Marjorie
Connell, Janet Van Ryan, Joan Hain-
stock and Dale Gray. Interment was
in Fordwich cemetery.
Friends attended the funeral from
Sudbury, Windsor, Grand Rapids, To-
ronto, Paris, Brussels, Ethel, Atwood,
Wroxeter and Fordwich.

Mr. and Mrs, Harold Mullins and
baby, of Ottawa, are spending a week
at the home of Mrs. Mullin's parents,
Mr. and Mrs, Noah Reis.
Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Armstrong
spent Tuesday ,of last week in Kit-
chener.
Fordwich W. M. S. held its May
meeting at the home of Mrs. Emma
Williamson.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wade, Bel-
grave, visited with Mr. and Mrs. Wm.
Wade on Sunday.
Masons from Clifford, Palmerston
and Brussels joined with the local
lodge at their church service on Sun-
day evening in the United Church. I
Rev. U. E. Cronheilm was the preach-
er assisted by the pastor, Rev. S. ,
Miner. The choir sang an anthem in
their usual good style.
Harvey Bride, student at Toronto
University, is at his home here,
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Winston are in
Detroit visiting Mrs. Winston's sister,
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hargrave,
Powell and Grant were in Montreal
last week where Mr. Hargrave was
attending the Lions District "A" con-
vention.
Mrs. Bella Greaves is visiting in
Toronto,
Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Armstrong,
Mrs. S. Forester, Mrs. Roy Simmons,
Mrs. J. Strong and Mrs. Emerson
Hargrave were in Goderich on Friday
where they attended the spring meet-
ing of the Huron Deanery.
Mr. Fred Litt, 10th' con., has pur-
chased the farm formerly owned by
Acheson Wallace, from Mr. Jas. Don-
aldson, Fordwich.
Friends here learned with regret of
the sudden passing of Mrs. Richard
Milligan, lot 27, con. 17, Howick. She
was the former Esther Lintz and was
61 years of age. She was active in
church and community, being first
W. M. of Good Will Chapter of Clif-
ford Eastern Star, 'and seeretarY,
treasurer of the Women's Institute
for many years. Surviving are her
husband, two sons, Melvin, Clifford,
and John, at home; two daughters,
Mrs. Oliver Jacques, Clifford, and
Mrs. Irwin Reidt, Lakelet, also two
sisters and six brothers. Funeral ser-
vice was held Friday afternoon and
interment was in Clifford cemetery.

Howes, 15th con. Howick, was in-
' stantly killed when struck by a truck
on Wednesday, May 16th.
Ronald Bennett, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Wm. Bennett was operated on
for appendicitis in Wingham Hospi-
tal. He returned home last week and
is making a splendid recovery.
The Jr. Farmers' dance last Mon-
day evening drew a big crowd. Don
Robertson and his Ranch Boys sup-
plied the music. There was also a
good attendance on Friday night at a
benefit dance for Bower Farrish, who
broke his arm while playing hockey,
It was arranged by the hockey team.
Music was furnished by Brown's or-
chestra.
The Jr. Farmers had a draw for a
Bulova watch which was won by
Bradley Galbraith and at the Friday
night dance Mrs. John Gibson Sr.,
Wroxeter, held the lucky ticket for a
bag. The boys of the Hockey team
were presented with blue leather
jackets.
United Church News
There will be Sunday 'School anni-
versary services on Sunday, June 3rd
at 11 a.m. This is flower service with
special music by the boys and girls.
The special speaker will be Kenneth
3, Browne of London.
On Friday evening the Young Peo-
ple's Union will join with the Mar-
ried Couples' Club in holding a ball
garhe and wiener roast. Everyone is
asked to meet at the church at 7.30
p.m.
