CHILDREN PLANT
TREES IN HUSS
History was made in Kinloss Twp.,
north west of Whitechurch, Wednes-
day as some 100 senior grade students
comprising nine schools staged a tree
planting bee. The children planted the
5000 pine trees in record time and
after short addresses by visiting of-
ficials ended the day with a rousing
ball game.
The reforestation project is spon-
sored by the Bruce County Council
in the interest of Conservation educa-
tion and prizes are awarded by the
council to schools competing.
Site of 'Wednesday's bee was land
purchased by the County from Archie
McKinnon, situated on the west half
of lot 22, on concession 6. This section
of land is one of four farms purchased
in Kinloss by the County and forms
part of the Bruce County Forest of
303 acres.
Officials attending the days, activ-
ities were J. C. Jackson, Zone Fores-
ter for Grey and Bruce. Assistants, S.
R. Hamilton and Ernie Danes, Robert
Sloan, chairman of the Bruce County
Tree Conservation Mission.
Public School Inspector, J. M. Game
of South Bruce, supervised the outing
and Dan McKinnon, an adjacent land
owner, played host to the children,
Free chocolate milk was supplied by
