attending the annual meeting of the
Huron Diocesan Woman!s Auxiliary
of the Church of England.
Mrs. S, Miner was presented with
a gift from members of the cast of
the drama "Release," following the
second presentation in the United
Church on Sunday evening, April 29.
Members of the cast of the drama
presented last year also joined in
showing their appreciation of her help
at these two sacred dramas which
so much enjoyed.
Indian Missionary Speaks
Dr, Nicholls, a missionary from
India spent the week-end at the
Blyth rectory with Rev. J. A. and
Mrs. Roberts and addressed the three
congregations of Blyth, Auburn and
Belgrave on Sunday, She told vividly
of the efforts of Dr. Ida Scuddard in
starting the first Missionary hospital
to train native nurses and doctors
and of their work among the people of
that country. A reception was held at
the rectory Sunday evening when Dr.
Nicholls showed films of her work,
C. G. L T. Meeting
The regular C.G.I.T. meeting was
held Thursday. The worship service
was taken by Lorraine Hanna and
Elaine Bolt. The theme was "God In
Nature." Hymn 64 was "sung and
Elaine Bolt read a story 'Bird Friends'
and then led in prayer, The closing
hymn was No. 11. In the business
period the treasurer's report was read
and the roll call was answered. The
minutes of the last meeting were read.
It was moved by Elaine Bolt and
seconded by Lois Goll that the group
send $5.60 to the W.M.S. Evelyn Cook,
Donna Anderson and Mildred Cook
were appointed for summer activities.
The business period was adjourned
by Lois Goll seconded by Lorraine
Hanna. Mrs. Moore gave a talk and
Taps were sung.
United Church V.M.S.
The W.M,S. met on May 2nd., with
16 present. The President, Mrs. E.
Anderson was in charge and opened
the meeting with the use of hymn
41 and prayer. The secretary and
treasurer gave their reports. The
treasurer read a letter of thanks from
Dr. V. T. Mooney for money sent to
help send parcels overseas. Final ar-
rangements were made for the C.G.I.
T. Affiliation service on May 17. Mrs.
J, Wheeler and Mrs, G. Martin gave
reports of the Presbyterial in Exeter.
1 Corinthians XIII was read in
unison, The theme was "How We Can
Work for Peace, through Helping to
Feed the Hungry." The program was
in three parts: "Food versus Famine."
"Bread versus Bullets" and "Apathy
on Aid" and was presented by Mrs.
Walter Scott, Mrs. Albert Coultes and
Mrs. J. M. Coultes. All took part in
the Litany of Dedication. Hymn 445
concluded the meeting.
