Mr. Irwin Gibson, Listewel, former
Fordwich resident has been appoint-
ed to the Canadian staff of the ;Tex-
tile Workers of Ameriea and will be
working out of the Toronto office.
Mr. Gibson was presented with a
Gladstone bag and brief ease by the
management and employees of the
Maitland Spinning Mills, where he
has been employed for the last nine
years, serving as union pry sident for
the past six years.
The Fordwieh C.G.I,T. groups had
as their guest speaker on Monday
night Miss Lenore Beswitherick who
chose as her topic "Good Reading
and Good Books'.
Miss Ruth Patterson and Miss
Mono Love, nurses in training at the
Galt Hospital, also Ray Simpson of
Galt spent a couple of days recently

Lorne Bride recently underwent an
appendectomy in the hospital in
Niagara Falls.

Toronto, spent the week-end with the
latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs, John

Mr, and Mrs. Lloyd McNeil and
little daughter of Toronto, spent the
week-end with relatives here,
A large crowd attended the shower
held on Tuesday night in honor of
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Willitts. The
music was provided by Sangster's Or-
chestra. A very humorous address
was read by Mrs. Lloyd Montgomery
and a generous purse of money was
presented to the newly-weds by Miss
Jean Wilton.
We are glad to report that Mrs.
Ross McKague is recovering from an
attack of measles and Miss 'Velma
l3allagh from the mumps.
The Women's Missionary Society
of the United Church was held on
Wednesday afternoon at the home of
Mrs. Justin Will, with Mrs. Fred
Doubledee as leader. Hymn 252 was
sung, and Mrs. Harry Mulvey gave
the scripture reading, Mark 10: 17, 22,
followed by prayer, Mrs. Will, Mrs.
Roy Gowdy and Mrs. Harry Gowdy all
gave very interesting readings and
the roll call, a verse on joy was well
responded to. A good report of the
Presbyterial meeting held at Ripley,
April 17th., was given by Mrs, Martin.
Miss Mary Will favored with two
piano selections, "In the Sweet Bye
and Bye" and "The Robin's Return."
Hymn 320 was sung and the meeting
closed with tse benediction, after
which the hostess served a dainty
lunch.

terian church on Sunday afternoon.

church next Sunday at 3 p.m., with
