gone to another community, an ad-
dress was read and a lovely bouquet

Harvest Festival Service
Flowers, fruits and vegetables, in
attractive arrangements gave a lovely
setting in St. James Anglican Church
I for the annual Harvest Thanksgiving
service on. Sunday ,Sept. 25th., at
4 p.m. The rector, Rev. J. C. Caley,
was in charge, assisting the local choir
were, the surpliced choirs of St. Step-
hen's Church, Gorrie and Trinity
Church, Fordwich. The latter group
contributed an anthem, "Ye Shall
dwell in the Land" with John Gamble
and ,Miss Elva Foster, taking the sold
parts. Rev. j. C. Caley based his re-
marks on the words, Man doth not
live by bread alone, but by every word
proceeding out of the Mouth of God.
He thanked thos'e who had so beauti-
fully arranged the symbols of a bount-
iful Harvest, and said sometimes in
the struggle for food and clothing the
spiritual life was neglected, to reach
the highest in Christian life, man must
learn to love himself, his neighbor and
God. A basket of flowers was placed
in the church by Mrs. Thos. Jacklin
in memory of her late husband.
United Church Anniversary

stand at the Door and Knock, If any
Man hear My Voice, and open the
Door, I will come unto him and will
sup with him and he with me. Revela
tions chapter 3, verse 20. Special mus-
ic by the choir was appreciated. The

Over 54,000 shareholders own the Bell—and
put up much of the money needed to give
you telephone service. There are more than
twice as many of them as ten years ago.
Since the war their accumulated investments in
Bell stock have increased by nearly one hundred
million dollars.
With thousands of applicants still waiting for
telephone service, many million dollars more will
be needed for new construction. And this money'
must continue to come from these and other
Canadians who are ready to invest their savings in the telephone business.
