the village went through a serious op-
eration on his spine in St, Josephs
Hospital, Toronto, on Saturday and
is well as can he expected. •

children of Belgrave, spent the week-
end at the home of his sister, Mrs.
Ed. McClenaghan.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack 'Gillespie and
Donna Mae, Palmerston, spent Sunday
with their parents here.
Mr. W. R. Farrier, Mr, and Mrs.
G. E. Farrier and Wayne, Mr. Donald
Watt and Mr. Billie McClenaghan of
Beigrave, left on Sunday to visit with
Toronto friends and attend the Exhib-
ition.
Mrs. W. Dow returned from Gorrie
on Friday, after visiting with her sis-
ter, Mrs. Hector Hamilton for a week.
The Young People of the United
Church held a social evening in the
S.S. Room of the church on Tuesday
evening last, with Mrs, Jas. Falconer
in charge of the Worship period. Mrs.
Newion read a poem, after the open-
ing sing-song of hymns. Mrs. James
Falconer led in prayer and Mrs. Ed,
McClenaghan and Mr. Clarence Mc-
Clenaghan had charge of the recrea-
tion period of games and contests. All
enjoyed the corn roast that followed.
Mr. and- Mrs. Russell Gaunt and
Donald spent Sunday at Bruce Beach
with Mr, and Mrs, Eric Elliott, who
returned home to Ottawa this week
and Janet Gaunt, who Spent last week
there returned home, •

his mother, Mrs. Chalmers of Palmer-
ston, visited on Sunday at the home of
Rev. and Mrs. W. J. Watt.

Webster spent the week-end at Til-
sonburg at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Harold Thompson and with other rel-
atives in that community.

The Church Board of the Presby-
sive repair work on the manse pro-
terian Church have been doing exten-
pertY and Mr. Ezra Welwood has been
painting the outside woodwork, mak-
`ing quite an improv/ement.
Mr. Lorne Johnston was forced
through illness to return to Westmin-
ster Hospital at London on Friday.
Mr. Spence, who bought the Car-
rick property in the village, spent last
week here, and returned to Toronto
for the week-end.
Mrs. George Cottle and her daugh-
ter, Evelyn, and her granddaughter,
Thalia and Synthia Cottle, and Mr.
Lyman Trew•artha, all of Detroit, spent
the week-end at the home of the for-
mer's sister, Mrs. Jos, Tiffin, and all
gathered for a family dinner on Sun-
day at the !mate of Mr. and Mrs.
Wesley Tiffin of Kinloss.
Mr. Nat Thomson spent Sunday at
Shallow Lake where the Salvation
Army were conducting services.

ren of Bright spent the week-end with

Terriff accompanied them to Bleb'
home at Vonfitill. Mr. anti Mrs. Ai-
bert Coultes and children spent the
week-end at Fonthill with Rev. and
Mrs. Cox and returned: home on Mon-
day.
Mr. Bert Currie of E. Wawanosh,
has been laid up for the past few weeks
with a heart condition.

and children of Acton, who had been
visiting with them, visited on Sunday
at the Ironic of Mr, and Mrs. John S.

chener visited mith his brother, Mr.
Albert Paterson on Sunday.
Mrs. A. R, Gomdie who bad been
visiting her sister, Mrs, Clarence Mc-
Clenaghan, returned home to Kitchen-
er on Saturday.
Rev, Chas, Ma"eDonald of Lucknow
conducted the services in the Presby-
terian Church here on Sunday, and
Rev, Mr, Currie, home from B.C., and
visiting with relatives at Chatsworth,
and who is preaching for a call, will
be in charge of the services in the
Presbyterian Churches here next Sun-
day.
Mrs. Badder of Thamesville visited
on Wednesday last with her old, friend,
Mrs. Leask McGee, Mr, and Mrs. Al-
lan Paddler, who accompanied her, vis-
ited with relatives at Hanover,
Ewart McPherson of Wingham
has purchased Mr, Gordon Rintoul's
farm property on the highway and
have moved there the beginning of
the week, and Mr. and Mrs. Rintoul
and family moved to the house on Mn,
Archie Purdon's farm on the 12th of
E. Wawanosh.
Ms and Mrs. Walter Lettner and
family of Toronto, spent the week-end
with her brother, Mr. John Boyle.
Quite , a number from the W.M.S,
of the United Church here attended
the summer meeting of the \V,M.S, of
St. Helens Church on Wednesday,
when groups from Brick Church,
Blake, Hackett's and Ashfield and
Dungannon -United Churches met in a
social meeting to hear Mrs. Smith of
Dungannon, a "former Missionary on
the Indian Reserve in Northern Man-
itoba, tlI of her experiences there.
Each W.M.S. contributed a number
on the program and St. Helens W.M.
S. served lunch during the social hour,
