Cornwall. IRAN. Shunt of Kincardine
had charge of the services here and
at Langside on Sunday.
Mr, and Mrs. Walter James and
sons, spent a few days recently with
Imucardme friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Carman Farrier of
Long Branch are spending this week
with relatives here and in Morris.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Newman were
in London on Monday and Mrs, Ben
Naylor returned home with them.
1 Mr. and Mrs, J. Gillespie received
word that Miss Jessie Gillespie, who
lhas been residing in Toronto, recently
!flew by 'plane to Vancouver. Her
nephew, Mr. C. S. Downing of Van-
couver, met her at Winnipeg and ac-
companied her back to B. C. Miss
Gillespie is in her eightieth year and
!enjoyed the trip very much.
Born—In, Alliston Hospital on
Monday, June 27, to Mr. and Mrs. C.
L. Cullimore of Tottenham, a son,
Randy James.
Rev, W. J. Watt had charge of the
services in Lucknow United Church
on Sunday, and Rev. and Mrs. Robert
Watt and children of Gorrie, have been
visiting here during the past week,
with WT. and Mrs. Watt. Rev. R,
Watt had charge of the services in
Gorrie on Sunday.
Miss Matilda Alexander is spending
this week with Mr. and Mrs. !Mark

been spending the past week at Kin-

Rev. and Mrs. Graydon Cox spent
the week-end with his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. David ,. Cox of Palmerston
and Donna and Ruth Ann stayed here
to spend their holidays. Miss Ruth
Ann had a birthday party on Monday.
Mr, and Mrs. Walter Lettner and
Rose Marie of Toronto are spending
two weeks at the home of her broth-
er, Mr. John Boyle and with other
relatives here.
Mr .and Mrs. Ben McClenaghan and
Carl spent Sunday with ,Mr. and Mrs.
Elwood Barbour of Fordyce,
During the severe electrical storm
on Saturday morning, lightning struck
the chimney of Mr. Jas. McInnis'
house, knocking shingles off the roof
and knocked the' telephone off the
wall. Many in this district found
their; telephones out of order after the
storm. ,
Mr. and Mrs. Anderson and two
children of Galt visited foi a few days
last week at the home of her sister,
Mrs. Will. Henry.
Mr. Brown of Kinloss spent the
week-end with Welland friends.
Miss Eileen Snell of London is
spending her holidays at the home of
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley
Snell.

Lean of Wroxeter are spending this
week with their grandparents, Mr, and
Mrs, J, F. McLean,

Mrs. Cecil Falconer attended the fun-
eral of the late Mrs. Jos. Maclnnis in
Teeswater on Sunday. Mrs. Rhone
and Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Maclnnis and
Mr. Victor Emerson also attended this
funeral.
Mrs. Fred Leaver of Toronto spent
last week here at the home of Mr.
Chas. Leaver, and her son Robert was
taken to Wingham Hospital on Thurs-
day suffering from tonsilitis and pneu-
monia. Mrs. Leaver returned to To-
ronto on Monday.
Miss Mary Laidlaw, Mr. and Mrs.
Jas. Falconer and Lois, and Mr. Sam
Coulter spent Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. Chas. Falconer in Kincardine
Mr. Robert Henderson is home from
Westminster Hospital, London, with
his leg in a calliper. He will wear
this for three months, so as to accus-
tom his knee to the stiff position, and
then he will have his knee cap re-
moved and a tumor removed from the
back of the knee-cap,
Mrs. A. R..Goudie and Miss Rena
Hunter of Kitchener, spent a few days
last week !with the former's sister,
Mrs. Clarence McClenaghan.

two children of Centralia Air Sehold,
1 and Billie Ashby of Toronto, spent the
week-end at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Chas. Robinson,
Mr. and Mrs. Carman Farrier have
purchased a new home , at 40-23rd
!street in Long Branch, and took pos-
session on July 1st.
Misses Eleanor and Marie Watson
of London, have been visiting at the
home of their uncle, Air. Lorne John-
ston anti accompanied Mr. and Mrs.
Johnston on their holiday to Coiling-
wood and Wasaga Beach last week,
Ronald Ryan has comMenced a,
mechanical course at Clinton radar
school and he and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce
Ryan and little daughter of Goderich,
spent the wee.-kend with their parents,
Mr, and 'Mrs. John Ryan,
Mrs. Scott Paterson and children,
and Miss Mundell returned home to
*Detroit with Mr. Paterson when he
came to spend the week-end here.
Mrs. Frank Thompson and Miss
Helen, spent a few days this week with
the former's sister, Mrs. Milton Mc-
Burney of London, and Miss Eleanore
Wightman visited with Mrs. Marguer-
ite Harvey at the London Y.W.c.A.
- Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Wightman and
daughters, visited on Sunday with. Mr.
and Mrs. Emerson Vipond at Atwood,
and with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Vipond
at Milverton.
Quite a number attended the field
day exercises at Langside on Friday.
Hyrdo men are busy these days put-
ting in poles along the highway to the
home of Mr. Gordon Rintoul.
Mr. and Mrs. John Mason and fam-
ily attended the Mason - Clarke-An-
derson and Kilpatrick family picnic at
Stratford Park on Sunday, and rela-
tives attended from Wingham. Lis-
towel, Hensal, Kippen, London, Kin-
cardine and Belgrave.
Miss Elsie Bieman and Mr. Arthur
King and Mr. amid Mrs. Livingstone
and children of Owen Sound visited
on Sunday with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Bieman of E. Wawanosh.
Miss Janet Watson of Aylmer and
Brucefield, spent a few days this week
with her sister, Mrs. Gilbert Beecroft.
Miss Eva Dow, Miss Norma Brydg-
es of Belgrave, left on Sunday for
Toronto, where they will take the Tea-
cher's second year Short Course at
the Normal School for the summer
months,
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Robinson and
two sons of St. Augustine, and Mr. and
Mrs. Ross McMichael and Linda of
Clinton, spent the week-end at the
home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Gershom Johnston of E. Wawanosh.
BELGRAVE
United Church W.M.S.
Mrs. W. J. Moores, the president,
had charge of the July meeting which
was held in the church basement. The
meeting- opened with ,singing hymn
416 and reading The General Thanks-
giving. The secretary's and treasur-
er's reports were given and the roll
call. It was decided to get one dozen
-end a half Christmas cards to sell.
The August meeting will be held the
last week in July and the Mission
Band and Baby Band will be guests
and there will be a special speaker.

Walkerton were also present, with
their daughter, teacher of No. 10. Miss
Grace Moir was in charge of the rac-
es and games for children and grown-
ups, and the children of No. 9 school
won the baseball game. All enjoyed
the treat of ice-cream and lemonade
with their lunch.
Miss Grace Moir left on Thursday
to spend the holidays with her sisters
in Toronto.
Mr. Mullen arrived from Scotsguard,
Sask., one day last week to visit with
his old neighbours of the West, Mr.
and Mrs. MacMillan anti Mr. and Mrs.
Duncan MacMillan and Mr. and Mrs.
Albin 'Griffin of Detroit, spent the
week-end there, anti with other Mac-
Millan relatives.
Mr. Neil MacCallum of Lucknow,
spent a few days last week with Mr.
and Mrs. Albert McQuillin.
Hyrdo was turned on at the home
of Mr. Russell Gaunt last Monday,
Mrs, Ir'i7rin Zinn and her daughter,
Evelyn of Innerkip, have been visiting
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth
