Mrs. John Falconer spent a few days last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Calvert Falconer, Blyth. Mr. Herbert Laidlaw was taken to the General Hospital, Private Patients Pavilion, Toronto, on Tuesday last, and went through an operation on his broken left leg, to have a splintered bone pinned to its place. Mrs. Laidlaw and Ivan were in Toronto on Thurs- day with Mr. Wm. McClenaghan. Mr. Charles Leaver spent the week- end with friends in Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Scott Paterson and children of Detroit, spent the week-end 0 -Nith h's father, Mr. F. McK. Paterson and Mrs. Paterson and children will spend the week here, Miss Marilyn Mundell of Detroit is also visiting there and Miss Lilian Paterson of Ayr. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Moss and child- ren of Bright, spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Mc- Clenaghan, and Mr. Irwin McClena- ghan of St. Thomas and Miss Betty Dicker of Glencoe, visited there on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Ross and Stewart MacGregor moved last week to their new home in Seaforth. Mrs. Sam Hutchison has been visit- ing with her sister, Mrs. Will Conn. Mrs, 'Gordon Montgomery and her three children of Kapuskasing, is visit- ing for a few weeks at the home of her .grandmother, Mar. WI Taylor. Walter Elliott, Archie Purdon, Billie Purdon and Fred McGee were in Guelph on Friday for the annual Field Day, Mr. Agnew, the bus driver from Lucknow took his load of High School pupils to Kincardine on Friday to ispend the day together at a picnic. They all appreciated the outing. Mr. Robert Henderson who has been in Westminster Hospital, Lon- don, for some weeks was home for the week-end. Mr. Lavergne MacMillan of Detroit spent the week-end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John MacMillan, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Charleston and her daughter, Mrs. Andrew and her two children from Hamilton, spent the week-end at the home of Mr. and Mrs, Cecil Falconer. Miss Shirley Falcon- er of Blyth spent a few days last week there, also, Mr. and Mrs. John Ketr and chil- dren of Bluevale spent Sunday with her mother, Mrs. Herbert Laidlaw. The Phillips men helped to shingle Mr. Cecil Falconer's barn last week. Mr. Leslie Wightman has had his barn shingled during the week also. Mr. Lorne Johnston returned home from Westminster Hospital on Friday and will not have to return there for several months. Paul and Karen Groskorth had their tonsils removed in Wingham Hospital on Saturday.... Nurse Olive Terriff was in attendance. Mr. and Mrs. J. F. McLean and Mrs. Earle McLean, who has been vis- iting here, were in Listowel on Sunday attending the Decoration Day service and visiting with former friends, Mr. and Mrs. Robt, Travis.... ,Miss Betty Cross, who has been, visiting here, re- turned home on Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Gibson Armstrong of London spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Berson Irwin and Mrs, Armstrong is spending this week here, Mrs. ,Alex, Shiell, Susanne and Jack of St, Thomas visited over the week- end with her mother, Mrs. Sam Me- Burney, Wingham and with Shiell, Thompson and Itenurney relatives in Wawanosh. 1tliss Lois Crowston of S. S. No, 9, is writing her Entrance exams this week. Reeve and Mrs. J. Remote are spending a few days this week at Owen Sound, where Warden and Mrs. Armstrong and other reeves of the County Home Committee and their wives, will attend the Annual County Home Convention. Reeve and Mrs. Murray Johnson, Wingham, are also attending, this Convention. Miss Christena Laidlaw, who has been ill for many months, isvery low at time of writing. Mr, and Mrs. John Gaunt were in London en Monday attending a fun- eral. .Miss Emily Elliott, Miss Isabel Elliott, Mrs. George Patterson and Miss Marjorie Patterson, of Agincourt, were recent visitors with „Mr. and Mrs. Albert Walters of Culroso Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Elliott and Marjorie, also, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Walters, attended the Elliott family picnic at Niagara Falls on Saturday. Miss Louise Martin of Kincardine, spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Martin. Mr. William Purdon was under the doctor's care during the past week. Mr. Henry McGee 80, cast the first vote on Monday at Polling division No. 4, At the concert in the Langside Church last Monday evening, Mr. and Mrs. James Macintosh, Ovho had been life-long residents of that district, and who moved to Wingbarn this Spring, were called to the front, where Mr, Walter Ferguson read an address and Mr. John Richardson, on behalf of their many friends in that community. presented them with a chime clock. Miss Dorothy was also called to the front and Mrs. Farrish Moffatt read an address and Mrs. Charles Tiffin pre- sented her with several pieces of pdtit- point dishes. Each responded, thank- ing the people for their lovely remem- brances, All joined in singing "For They Are jolly Good Fellows". Mrs. Alex, 'MacKenzie of Kinloss spent last week with Montreal friends, Mr and Mrs. Wilbert Erb of Tees- water and Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Legg- att spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs, Albert McQuillin. Mr. William Armstrong of Toronto spent a few days last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Snowden, and Mr. and Mrs. Snowden arc leaving on 'ednesday to spend a week at the home of his, brother, Mr. William Snowden of Orangeville. Mrs. Jennie Simpson and family of London and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Mc- Gee of Wineham visited on Sunday at the home o f their brother, Mr. John McGee. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Bieman and children spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Roger Inglis of Walkerton, The County Road Committee have been having the bridge on . the 9th Con. of E. Wawanosh repaired. Wingham District D.D.G.M. District Officers of the Grand Lodge of the Independent Order of Oddfellows and Rebekah Assembly of Ontario, were elected at Toronto this week, as 1,100 delegates from all sections of the province gathered at the Royal York Hotel for the annual sessions of the Grand Lodge, Rebekah Assembly, Grand Encampment, and Department Council of Patriarchs Militant. Elected for the Wingham district as Deputy Grand Master of the I.O.O.F., was Mr. Harvey Mc— Callum of Blyth. He has jurisdiction. over lodges at Wingham, Brussels* Wroxeter, Teeswater, Blyth. r,
