with his sister, Mrs. Savage of Wain-
fleet.' While there he suffered a severe
stroke.
He is survived by one sister, Mrs.
(Jennie) T. Savage of Wainfleet, and
one brother, Benjamin of Howick.
Funeral services were held on Tues-
day, April 12th, from the old home-
stead with Rev. Cronheihn officiating,
and assisted by Rev. Dempsey of
Wainfleet. Interment was made in
Wroxeter cemetery.
The pallbearers were, Morley Mc-
Michael, Tyndall McKercher, jack
McCutcheon. Webster Jacklin, Ewart
McKercher and Norman Mulligan.
The flower bearers were, Lyle Hart,
Jack Griffith and Billie Hart.
Friends were present from De-
troit, Toronto, Wainfleet, Ailsa Craig,
Parkhill, Listowel and Wingham.
Thomas Inglis
Huron County lost a pioneer resi-
Dee. 1st, 1862 at Glenmorets. Out, At
the age of four years, he, with his
parents moved to the 2nd. Concession
of Carrick to the farm now owned by
Gordon Inglis. As a young -man he
settled on concession 17, Howick,
where he has since resided. In 1898
he married the former Margaret I.
Bell, who predeceased him 10 years
ago, Mr. Inglis was a life-long mem-
ber of McIntosh Church in which he
took an active part. For 46 years he
served on the Board of the FormeSs.
Mutual Fire Insurance Co., first as a
director and for the past 10 years as
president of the Co., He took an active
part in all civic affaairs, having served
on the Council of Howick Township
nand was Warden of Huron Coutny in
1929.
He is survived' by two daughters,
Barbara, at home (Nellie) Mrs. Geo.
Zufelt of Sudbury, five sons, Smith
and James of Howick, John of Tdron-
to, William of Weston, aand Ander-
son of Cayuga, Ont., eight grandchild-
ren and three sisters, Miss Janet, and
'Mrs, Jas. Davidson of Boston, Mrs.
Norman M. Dow of Flin Mon, Mani-
toba,
Funeral service was held from his
late residence on Friday, April 15th,
Pallbearers were his five sons and
nephew, Geo. Inglis. Interment in
Gorrie cemetery.
Mrs. Edward Jacklin
'On Monday, April 11th, 1949. at
her late residence, Wroxeter, there
Passed into the Great Beyond, a well
known and dearly beloved citizen in
the person of Mrs, Edward Jacklin.
For some years she has not enjoyed
good health and a few weeks ago suf-
fered a paralytic stroke.
Rachael Rosetta Finlay, daughter of
the late William and Rachael Finlay
of 'Howick, was born in 1888. In 1913
she was united in marriage to William
Alexander Higgins who died in '1933.
Her second marriage to ,Mr, Edward
Jacklin took place in 1941. Besides her
husband she is survived by three
children, Stewart of Wroxeter, (Vel-
ma) Mrs. Frank Graham, Fordwich;
(Minerva) Mrs. Earl Baker. Gorrie,
and five grandsons, also a sister, Mrs.
Alex Wright, Wroxeter, four brothers,
Alex Cargill, William,. Listowel, Stew-
art, Belmore; Melvin, Howick
