The first W.M.S, meeting of the
New Year was held at the home of
Miss Margaret Dane on Thursday,
January 6th. Twelve members and 1.
Visitor were present. ,Mrs. II, Fergu-
son opened the meeting with quiet=
music. Mrs, A. Taylor led in the de- I
votional period with the theme being
"Thy Kingdom Come—Through the
Teaching Ministry of the Church". The
hymn "Jesus, the very thought of
Thee" was sung, followed by prayer
by the Leader.
Mrs. E. Whitfield gave the Scrip-
ture reading from Matt. chap. 5, 1:12;
chap. 12, 46:50. The hymn, "How
Sweet the Name of Jesus Sounds" was
sung and Mrs. G. Brown gave the
Study Book, dealing with "pr. Stella
Cheng", Principal of Hwa Yin School
for Girls, . Mrs. E. Farrish led in
prayer, The President then took
chargeof the business. The singing of
"Lord of Light, Whose Name Out-
shineth" and the Mizpah benediction
brought the meeting to a close. The
hostess served lunch and a social half
hour was enjoyed.
Messrs. Harold Townsend, Shel-
burne, and Allan Townsend, Strat-
ford, are spending a few days with
their parents, Mr. and Mrs. George
Townsend. Friends will be sorry to
learn that Mr. Townsend is ill with
pneumonia.

Gorrie L.O.B.A. No. 810 installed
the officers for 1949 at their meeting
on Tuesday afternoon. The usual con-
tribution of children's pajamas, towels,
aprons, etc, was sent to the Orange
and True Blue Orphange at Richmond
Hill in December and it was decided
to send the annual donation of $50.
at this meeting, to the same institu-
tion.
The third progressive euchre, spon-
sored by the L.O.L. was held on Fri-
