Collecting 26 hits, the Wingtam
Mercurys outclassed the Goderich
Sailors 29-2 in a tueifs intermediate
"A" W.O.A.A, softball game here,
'The local °titbit and outplayed the
visitors in every respect. Goderich
used both Westlake and Hazlitt on the
mound in an offort to stem the tide
of the Corrett attack. Wingham had a
field day in the latter stages of the
game, collecting 16 runs, including a
homer by Niergarth.
Veteran catcher "Bob" Groves pat-
ed the local attack with six hits, in-
cluding a ijiple, followed closely by
Aitchison with four, The Mercnrys
gave Fleury on the mound good si.p-
port, cothmitting only one misplay.
Ginn played a steady game for the
Sailors, collecting three of :is teani's
hits and excelling in the outfield.

The Belgrave Women's Institute
met at the home of Mrs. J. M. CQ114-
• es. The convener was Mrs, A. E,.
. Coultes, and Mrs. Stewart Procter,
. the president, was in the chair, Plans
were made to have a short course on I. I
"Modern Dressmaking", The motto
was discussed by Mrs. Ed, Wightman,
the subject being, "Try on your nei-
ghbor's shoe, and see if it pinches."
She brought out the point that the
neighbour one thinks has such an
easy time has problems too, Mrs, Earl
Anderson gave a report of the district
annual held in Goderich.
Mrs, Richard Procter spoke on pulp
and papermaking and showed samples
to illustrate her talk, She also told of
the peppermint industry, Mrs, C. R.
Coultes gave a report of the Federa-
tion meeting held in Clinton. Mrs. J.
M. Coultes gave a talk on boning a
fish, and Mrs. A. E. Coultes conducted
a quiz on advertising slogans. Re-
freshments were served by the hos-
tess, assisted by Mrs. Jesse Wheeler,
Mrs. J. R. Coultes and Mrs. A. E.

Women's Institute
This Sunday service at the United
Church, Belgrave, will be withdrawn
and Communion Service will be ob-
served the following Sunday, July 4.
Mr..Mansz of Stratford, who is es-
gaged to teach the Belgrave school
next term, visited the school on Mon-
day.
Misses Mildred Cook, Marjorie
MacKenzie a,nd George Marlatt have
passed the entrance on their year's
• work.
Doris Adams, fourteen month-old
daughter of Mr, and Mrs. Harry Ad-
arid's, fell while playing on a swing
and had her left leg splintered. The
leg has been put in a cast.
Mr. and Mrs. J. C. McBurney and
family, spent the week-end with rela-
tives at Lambeth and London.
Mr, Norman Higgins has success-
fully completed his year's work at
Western University and plans to re-
turn in the fall,
Mr, and Mrs, Orval Taylor and Mr.
and Mrs. Chas. Robertson spent the
week-end in Toronto.
Mr. George grigg spent the week-
end with his sister at Atwood.
Mission Band
The Happy Hearts Mission Band
was held on Sunday, June 20, with
large crowd, it started with the
Mission Band Purpose, also the Call
to Worship and hymn 619, The 23rd
Psalm and The Lord's Prayer were re-
peated in unison. Collection was re-
ceived. The 'Mission Band picnic will
be held at Earl Anderson's on June
30. George and Ruth Procter sang
a duet. Mrs. Anderson told a story,
followed by hymn 613. Tile closing
prayer was offered by Marlene Mac-
Kenzie.
Mr. and Mrs. Neil McCrea visited
in Deseronto, Ont., with her aunt.
Mrs. McCrea will stay for a two
weeks' holiday.
Mrs. Wm. Vender of Bad Axe,
Michigan is visiting with Mr. and
Mrs. ;Marshal Stonehouse.
Mrs. L. Hayes, Karen and Billy, of
Elyria, Ohio, are visiting her parents,
Mr. and Mrs, Thos, Brydges.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs.
Levi Bieman on the 'birth of their son,
and to Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Rad-
ford (nee Joyce Rath), a son, in the
Clinton Hospital on June 11.
Mr. and Mrs. Leo Boucher, Miss
Peggy and Master Terry Nethery
spent the week-end in Wiarton on a
fishing trip.
