Mr. Duncan MacDonald also Mr,
and Mrs. Jack Cotrill and daughters,
Anne Louise and Donna, all of Port
Elgin, were Sunday guests of Mrs.
D. W. Rae.
Several from this district were in
Fordwich on Saturday attending the
funeral services for the late Rev,
Ernest Jacques of Caledonia, whose
death took place in Hamilton General
Hospital on Thursday. The late Mr,
Jacques was. born 64 years ago in
Howick, son of the late John Ind
Margaret Nay Jacques. During his
ministry he had lived at Millbank,
Morpeth and for the past eighteen
years he has been Missionary on the
Indian Reserve near Brantford, His
wife, the former Mae Spence, fdrmerly
of Fordwich, and six children survive.
Funeral services were held in Trinity
church, which he attended in his boy-
hood, and where his recent gift of
li htin fixtures will be. a memorial g g
to one who was beloved by all who
knew him.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence White, Tor-
onto, spent the week-end at their sum-
mer residence here. Mrs. White will
remain for some weeks, also with the
White family for the week-end were
Mr. and Mrs. Barry Rann and Mr.
Jack Rann, all of London.
Mr. and Mrs. Percy Copeland were
Sunday guests of Mi. and Mrs. Geo.
Baker, Fordwich,
Mr. and Mrs, Lloyd Magee and
children, John and Helen, spent the
week-end with friends at Bayfield.

The June meeting of the Women's
Missionary Society, of the United
Church, will be held in the church
school-room on Friday, the 11th, at

ful Garden and how its Beauty was
shared by its owner. Mrs. George
Lane renewed Current Events, touch-
ing on subjects of Health. Mrs. Fulch-
er, new W, T. Provincial President,
the death of Buzz Beurelling, Can-
ada's outstanding Airman of the late
war, also ,Andy Clarke, whose brOad-
east (neighbourly News) will be miss-
ed. Some choice verse also a humorous
Story, Mrs, Harold Hamilton gave a
very interesting report of the District
Annual meeting held at Brussels on
Tuesday. Guest speaker for the meet-
ing was Mrs. 0. G. Anderson of Bel-
grave, who very clearly outlined The
Huron County Hospitalization Plan.
Keen-interest was shown in the dis-
cussion which followed and Mrs. Al-
len Munro was appointed Secretary to
whom names may be given b,r, mem-
bers and their families, who decide to
join the group plan. Mrs. J. N. Allen
was convener for the Grandmothers
Programme, Mrs, George Lane favor-
ed with a delightful piano solo, Mrs,
J. N. Allen and Mrs, Vern Denny in
quaint old-fashioned costumes sang a
duet, "I cannot sing the old songs",
Readings were given by Mrs. Anger,
Mrs, D. W. Rae, Mrs. A. McKercher,
Mrs. Sangster was called on and re-
sponded by a treat of delicious candy.
The Roll Call, "My Grandmother's
Housekeeping and Mine", brought an
interesting response, the highlight of
which was a reading froln 1'lina Moore
Jamieson's Book, "The Cattle in the
Stall". Members volunteered to assist
at the chest clinic to be sponsored by
the Howick Lions Club this month.
Mrs. V. Denny, Mrs. A. Moffatt and
Miss K. Hazelwood assisted in serv-
ing refreshments and a social hour was
enjoyed. Mrs, Wm. Hart moved a vote
of thanks to Mrs. Sangster and Miss
Eva Sangster for their kind hospital-
ity.

The Seventieth Anniversary was
fittingly observed in Trinity Anglican
Church on Sunday, Rev..Mr. Pocock,
a former pastor, was in charge of the
service, the choir was ably assisted by
Mrs. Hawkins of London, who sang
t(vo beautiful solos in her winsome
manner. Mrs. Hawkins was the wife
of the late Rev. W. B, Hawkins, a
former rector of the Parish.

Aunt Cindy Cleans Up
Sponsored by the Gorrie Women's
Institute the three act comedy "Aunt
Cindy Cleans Up" was presented in
the Town Hall on Wednesday even-
ing by the ,A.Y.P.A„ of Hartisto
Anglican Church and was enjoyed by
those in attendance. Each character
was well taken, that of Aunt Cindy
being particularly worthy of mention.
This is the third play this society has
put Oil in Gorrie in 'the last three years.
The proceeds were in aid of "Food
Parcels for Britain" and the effort of
