Leoaard Armstrong of Lapeer,
Mich., spent several days of last week
with Mr. 'Jas. Armstrong,
Canon and Mrs. R, S. Jones of
Markdale called on old friends in the
village on Thursday afternoon.
Mrs, Geo. Foster of Elmira, visited
friends here last week.
We extend sympathy to Mrs, Arthur
Chapman in the death of her sister,
Mrs, Geo. Newton of Wroxeter, who
passed away in Victoria Hoepital,
London on Tuesday, May 18th,

The regular meeting of the Wom-
en's Auxiliary was held on Thursday
afternoon at the home of Mrs. Ernest
King with an attendance of 12 mem-
bers and 2 visitors. When the work
period which was piecing quilts for the
annual W. A. bale was finished, the
President, Mrs. H. V, Holmes took
charge of the devotional and business
period which opened with prayers fol-
lowed by Roll Call and minutes of the
Previous meeting, 1;Inal plane; were
made for the hot supper and bazaar
on May 29th. Mrs. Geo. Foster, a W.

Mrs. W. C. King. Mrs, Taylor then
gave a talk on "The love of Jesus",
basing her thoughts on the ;beloved
disciple. john'ti love for His Master,
saying in part that those who serve
Jesus must first follow Hint. Every
Christian is to bear testimony to His
Lord and Saviour, Closing prayers by
the President, followed by a lovely
lunch served by the hostess, brought
the meeting to a close.
Mrs, Wm. H. Gregg
Mrs. Mary Jane '(Minnie) Gregg,
daughter of the late Mr, and Mrs,
Wm, Evans was called suddenly to her
eternal rest on Saturday, May 15th.
She was born in Cartwright township
in 1869, coming at an early age with
her parents to Howick, and spending
almost her entire life in this coalman-

ity, On Sept. 21st, 1887, she was un-
ited iu marriage in the Methodist
Church, Gorrie, Wm. H. Gregg,
also of Howick Township, who parsed
away in July, 1946. Au only son, Car-
roll H. Gregg, also predeceased her in
October, 1947.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs,
Cecil (Edith Mildred) Day, also three
grandchildren and one greatgrand-
child, two sisters, Mrs, Elmer Fall's,
Fordwich and Mrs. Hilton Ashton of
Gorrie.
A member of the United Church,
she was active in the work of the Wo-
man's Association and Witt.; a former
Sunday School teacher. She also was
a member and worker in the 6th and
9th line Red Cross Group, during the
SecOnd World War. A kindly neigh-
bor, she was always willing to help in
any way she could.
The funeral service was held at her
home on Tuesday, May 18th, her pas-
tor, Rev, G. G. Howse, conducting; the
service assisted by Rev, Hugh 'Wilson
of Brussels. Mrs, P. Kaine and Mr.
Harold Robinson sang "Some Day
