for them by the hospital

annual Christmas party,
Master of Ceremonies for the
festive occasion was hospital
administrator Roger
Sheeler, Christmas carols
were. sung, and a skit on
hcepital life was performed
with nurses taking the
leading roles. *
This was followed by an
appearance, of the "Rot
shots", a kazoo band made of
nurses and Staff members,

CENTRALIA
Centralia met in
the school room of the
church with decorations and
a lighted tree. They had as
their guests the husbands
and friends,
Freda Rollings was
chairlady for the meeting
and welcomed everyone.
Two carols were sung, "We
Wish you a Merry Christ-
mas" and "Joy to the
World".
Readings by Verna Hicks
"The Legend of the Holly",
by Edith Lobb "The
Christmas Lights" and Alice
Koehler "Inside of Christ-
mas". A duet Silent Night
was sung by Lois Wilson and
Glerina Tripp accompanied
by Edith Gill.
Dorothy Rollings gave a
reading "Spirit, of Christ-
mas". The Centralia quartet
Douglas Gill, Sam Skinner,
Bob Heywood and Bob Blair
sang three numbers, ac-
companied by Edith Gill.
Two carols "Deck the Halls"
and "0 Little Town of
Bethlehem were sung.
A skit entitled "When gifts
came down at Christmas"
with the following ladies
taking part: Donna Smith,
Etta Powe, Jean Isaac,
Aldeen Skinner, Eleanor
Scott and Elizabeth Molnar,
The collection was taken by
Ellen Brown and Doreen
Lines.
.Two more carols "Away in
a manger" and "The First
Noel" were sung. The
meeting closed with Mizpah
Benediction. A' delicious
smorgasbord luncheon was
served by group one with
Margaret Cook, Marion
Deline and Adeline Elliott as
conveners.
Sunday service
"Where is he that is born
King of the Jews?" The wise
men followed the star with
great expectation and
brought their gifts and
worshipped the young child.
They had achieved their
goal.
The Advent season has
been set aside so that peOple
could be in preparation.
Great preparation is made
for distinguished guests and
we look forward with an-
ticipation to their visit.
The gifts presented by the
wise men were precious gifts
for a King and they knew the
joy of giving. A boat follows
the lights to come into the
harbour and it is important
for the lights to be shining.
We can be a light guiding
others. The choir sang an
anthem.
Sunday evening the annual
Sunday School concert was
presented in the schoolroom
of the United Church' with a
good attendance present.
The various Sunday School
classes under the super-
vision of the teachers con-
tributed numbers for the
entertainment. The arrival"'
of Santa Claus added to the
enjoyment of the evening,
Seniors entertained
Senior citizens were guests
of United Church Women in
the Community Centre on
Wednesday of last week
when they entertained them
to a delicious' Christmas
dinner followed by an af-
ternoon of crokinole and
cards. A good time was had
by all.
Personals
Mrs. Lorne Hicks was on a
recent bus tour to see the
beauty of Christmas as
displayed in Bethlehem,
Penn.
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence
Hirtzel, Mr. and Mrs. Tom
Kooy were among the Lucan
senior citizens who enjoyed
the bus tour on Wednesday of
last week when they visited
Coyles, the Cheese House,
and on to Simcoe to see the
Christmas lights.
Miss Lois Elliott, a student
at the University of Guelph
has completed her studies
for this semester and is
holidaying at the home of her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm.
Elliott.
Mr. and Mrs. Ken Greb
were guests with Mr. and
Mrs. Russell Eckstein and
attended the Musical Can-
tata at Calvary United
Church, London, on Sunday.
The successful politician is
the one who can rock the
boat and then convince
everyone else that there is a
terrible storm at sea.
