Mark Desjardine arrived
home last Wednesday for a
holiday with his mother,
Mrs. Norma Desjardine,
Mark has been working in
Calgary, Alberta, since last
April, After Christmas he
will resume his studies at
Fanshawe College. Motoring
home, Mark stopped in
Winnipeg to visit his sister
Mona, and cousins Danny
and Cindy,
Congratulations to Mr.
Mae Holt on becoming a
great great grandma, when
a baby boy was born recently
to her great grandchildren

the first great grandchild for

Eighteen attended the
undenominational Bible
coffee hour last Thursday
morning at Mita Sinclair's
home. The ladies studied the
last chapter on Womens
Priorities. This was the last
meeting, until January 8,
1981, when study will begin
on a new book "Coping with
life and its problems",

held at the home of Vera
Brown, lot 25, Sherwood
Crescent, Southcott Pines.

Beaconaires club sponsored
a bus trip last Saturday to
the town of Simcoe's
' Christmas Panorama - The
Festival of Lights. Forty-six
Grand Bend and area people
which included folks from
Zurich, Parkhill, Exeter and
Dashwood enjoyed the trip.

November 30 to December 6,
provincial police at the
Pinery Park detachment
laid four charges under the
liquor licence act.Three peo-
ple were charged under the
highway traffic act, and one
theft was investigated. One
break and enter was in-
• vestigated, and 14 mis-
cellaneous occurrences were
handled. There were no ac-
cidents to report.
CORRECTION
A mistake appeared in an
account of a meeting of
Grand Bend council in last
week's paper. Concerning
the installation of sewers on
River Road, it should have
read, "the area is now slated
to get sewers."

Johnson were his two sisters,
Mr. Madeline Sadler; and
Mr. & Mrs, Austin. Q'Neil, all

their birthdays with their
families at the home of their
uncle, Alex Desjardine on
Friday evening. It was Mr,
Desjardine's 70th birthday
and a lovely meal was
brought in by his nieces and
a pleasant time spent
together,
Orph,a club meets
Fourteen members met at
President Irene Kennedy's
home for the December
meeting. Irene opened by
reading an excerpt from a
Sarnia paper about
Children's Aid concerns. A
display of all the items the
group has made and had
donated were on view", and
they will be delivered to
Lambton county Childrens
Aid at Sarnia for Christ-
mas giving.
Financial donations were
received from three
members. December bir-
thdays were remembered.
The meeting closed with a
poem "Count your
Blessings".
A social hour of visiting
was enjoyed. Christmas
cake and fruit punch were
served for lunch.
Beaconairesclub meets
Twenty three members
and two guests attended the
Beaconaires. December
meeting, held at the Church
of God, last Monday night for
a Christmas dinner with all
the trimmings at. 6:30 p.m.
Christmas carols Were.
sung after supper.
President, Della Simpson,
presided for the business.
Final details. for the up-
corning bus trip ., were
discussed.
The same officers were
elected for 1981, with a travel
committee named, of Arnold
Gaiser, Leeland Desjardine
and Fermon Snyder.
Rev. R. Simpson gave a
talk on Chapter 19 of Luke,
telling the group Christ's
purpose for coming was to
seek and save the lost,

United church news
The Second Advent
Candle was lit by Scott
Keyes, at the United church
morning service. The
Sunday School teachers and
children attended the first
part of the service. Several
of the children, gave a
presentation of, "The
Innkeeper's story", dressed
in Biblical costumes that
portrayed Mary and Joseph
and baby Jesus, Shepherds
and Wise men. The
congregation all came
forward at this time and
presented their "White
Gifts" offering.
Christmas carols were
sung throughout the service.
Rev. H. Moore's sermon
topic was, "A tinie to be
generous", with scripture
readings from Chapter three
of John, verses 16 and 17;
Chapter two of Luke verses 1
to 7.
Choir anthem was "Bells
. of Christmas".

second Sunday in Advent
which is called Bible Sunday,
He reviewed the lessons of
the Bible starting at Chapter
two of Genesis verse four,
telling us of creation of man
and woman in the Garden of
Eden,

gathered at one of the church
minister's wife's home for
fellowship, prayer and
coffee, A combined meal for
ministers and wives was
held at German Church of
God, when they honored one
minister who is leaving to go
to United States.
