OPP Constable speaks to UCl/V Hackers take over first By MIKE WRAITH Hagens Hacker's 7-1 vic- tory over the Blues coupled with the Greens and Salon 174 fighting to a draw vaulted them into sole possession of first place. In the first game Salon 174 were unable to hold `on to an early 3-0 lead and had to bat- tle back to gain a 4-4 tie with the Greens, Mike Wraith opened the scoring when he cut around the Greens defence and slid the puck past stand-in goalie Brian Munro. Salon 174 came right back with Tom Hardy doing the majority of the work. The defenceman lugged the puck behind the Green net, cen- tred a pass in front of the net Exeter Voters... Your generous sup- port at the polls was very much ap- preciated. I will serve you to the best of my abilities in the next two years. Many thanks, Lossy Fuller which 'Wraith knocked into the net. A Salon 174 power play goal liy Gary Hayter upped the score to 3-0. Hayter took a rebound and rifled a shot past Munro, Bruce Reid started the Greens comeback when he took a pass from the point and his low shot from the slot eluded goalie John Garrison. The Greens came right back when Jeff Park knock- ed in his own rebound to br- ing 'them within one. Gary Revington knotted, the score on a solo dash. Revington intercepted a pass at his own blue line, raced down the ice, cut around the defence and his backhand shot handcuffed Garrison. Six minutes later Mike Anderson gave the greens the lead which was shortliv- ed. Anderson stole the puck in the opposition end, skated in alone and beat Garrison with a shot to the shortside. Salon 174 came right back with the final goal of the game to tie the score when Tom Hardy's hard shot from the deep slot beat Munro cleanly. Both teams remained deadlocked in the league standings with identical records. In the second game six straight goals by Hagens Hacker's broke up a close game and enabled the Hackers to post a 7-1 vic- tory. The Hackers scored the only goal of the first period when Bill Darling took a pass from the point and his quick backhand found the mark, Eight minutes into the se- cond period the Blues tied the score on a shorthanded goal. Harry Wraith went in all alone on Hagen's goaltender Wayne Parkinson with Parkinson stopping the initial shot, The rebound, however, went behind the net where Wraith dug the puck out to Andy Hardy who made no mistake. Five minutes later. the Hacker's struck back and regained the lead for good. Don Murrays initial shot was wide of the net but Bill Darl- ing picked up the loose puck and slid a pass through the crease to Brad Taylor who knocked the puck into an open net. Taylor came right back to increase the lead when he took Darling's drop pass and his quick shot eluded the grasp of Ted Ouimet. Don Murray then/scored the first goal of the final period when he took a pass along the boards, cut to the net and slid the puck through Ouimet's pads and into the net. The Hackers came right back seconds later with Taylor completing his hat trick. Murray came up with the puck in the corner, pass- ed to Taylor in the slot whose quick shotmeimorized Ouimet.
