Mrs. Norris Atthill opened the meeting with a reading on thankfulness. Some interesting facts on missionaries in the un, derdeveloped parts of the world was given by Mrs. Lorne Marshall. Mrs. Clayton Ross told a story about a wedding in Japan and Mrs. Norman .Amos spoke on education in Japan, She reported a great deal of pressure is put on the children to succeed, The people are industrious and wealthy. Mrs. Ross Everett read the scripture and Mrs. Keith Fraser closed the worship service with a prayer. Mrs. George Burgin welcomed the members and reported how much she had enjoyed Alma College school for leaders. Mrs. Ray Paynter men- tioned the planned bus trip for the October meeting. The ladies enjoyed a delicious lunch of peaches, ice cream and cake served by the lunch committee. Crago and Margaret Lillian Hanly were married at high noon at the home of the bride's parents on the Mitchell Road, On Sunday September 21st, 1980 the Crago's entertained at a dinner at their home. Guests were present from • Owen Sound, Toronto, New- castle, Hamilton, Millgrove, Fergus and the St. Mary's area. The bridal attendants of 40 years ago Dr. Marion Morgan and Mr. William Crago were present. Forty years ago they holidayed in Kingston, Ot- tawa and the Thousand Islands.This year they toured Europe for 17 days including the Passion Play in Oberammergau, Germany. Their family include four daughters Joyce of Toronto, Hazel of London, Doris, Mrs. Wm. Dunnell, Guelph, Beth Mrs. Fred Cowdrey of Lucan. E. SUMMERS to in his The W.I. held a successful beware of quilt show at the Masonic mistakes Hall on Tuesday afternoon and evening, with over 100 coming to see the many quilts on display. Many were done by grandparents and great grandparents or even older. The quilts of today were beautiful, and showed much interest and work on the part of those who made them, and also those who arranged the display. It was good to see tatting, as we hope this art - will not be lost. All enjoyed refreshments before leaving. Fined for record lack Clarence Poortinga, RR 3 Blyth, was , sentenced recently in provincial court in Goderich on a charge of failing to keep records of purchases and sales of cattle. Mr. Poortinga was fined $500. He was originally charged with 16 counts of failing to keep records, but received a suspended sen- tence on 15. The charges fall under the Animal Disease and Protection Act, which is federal legislation, Mr. Poortinga was charged after the Canada Department of Agriculture conducted audits of his records between April 30, 1979 and June 12, 1979.
