GREENWAY
"Brighten the Corner
Where You Are" was the
anthem sung by the Junior
Choir Sunday. Let us take
the challenge this week and
see if we can do this.
Rev. Glen McPherson,
Beachville was the speaker
as Rev. Moore was taking an
anniversary service in his
church on Sunday.

mercial rate had increased

A major problem which
Grand Bend faces is that the
municipality has to function
as if all ratepayers lived
there on a year round bases,
Crawford stated,
Harold Skinner said -in
recent years council has
received much good input
from the village's tax payers
and he stated "the more of
this type of meeting the
better the community will
he."
Along the same vein there
was general agreement from
the gathering that a
nomination meeting should
be returned to the municipal
election procedure,
At the meeting Grand
Bend's politicians had no
new news on their political
aspirations.
Both deputy-reeve Judy
Uriiac and Baird said that
they would not be seeking re-
election while Crawford and
Green said they would seek
re-election as councillors.
Sharen said he was un-
decided about his political
future and probably would
not make up his mind until
shortly before the close of
nominations on October 20.
Members of Oakwood golf
club in Grand Bend held a
mixed "two-ball' tour-
nament Wednesday. More
than 100 golfers showed up
for what was billed as a "fun
day", and the weather co-
operated. The tournament
had been scheduled for the
previous week, but rain had
forced the postponement.
Tournament winners were
Vera Morrison and Murray
McLean, both of Grand
Bend. The winners and
runner-up received prizes
donated by 15 area
businesses.
The game began with all
players on the course for a
"shot gun" start at 9:30 a,m.
Everyone finished at noon,
and lunch followed. Playing
rules were relaxed a bit in
the "fun" tournament, and
misses and whiffs didn't
count. Each player teed off
at each tee, and then the
better ball was selected by
each couple. The partner to
the owner of the better ball
took the second shot, and
then • alternate shots were
played until the ball was
holed.
