No buyers
for park
grandstand

Interest in the building
materials from the grand-
stand at the community park
was nil last week. Not one
prospective buyer showed up
at the Thursday night
auction when the materials
were to be sold.
Proceeds from the sale
were to go towards the
redevelopment project.
Project chairman Don
Cameron, who was on
holidays and returned to find
the sale had fizzled, said this
week he did not knox yet
what course of action would
be taken to dispose of the
grandstand materials.
The facility had been
dismantled for a fee of
$1,500.
Cameron said there was a
possibility some of the
materials could be used for
constructing bleachers at the
park. He indicated there was
some good lumber, but the
recent decline in new lumber
may have made it less at-
tractive to potential
customers.
Very successful home bake
sale on the grounds at the
Lion's Fun Day celebrations.
They also sold homemade
pie by the slice and
lemonade by the glass.
Just a reminder to
members don't forget the
pot luck picnic on the Park
on Tuesday, August 19, and
be sure and bring a friend,
Unit 4 of the Granton
IJ,C,W, also held a very
successful bake sale on.
Saturday in connection with.
the Lion's Fun Day
celebrations.
