Industries.

for, the position have been
received but that the
association is very concern-
ed about finding the right
person for the job.
Advertisements for the
position have been appear-
ing in newspapers for the
position in both weekly and
daily newsphpers during the
summer Campbell said.
ARC has been without a
manager since June follow-
ing the leaiing of Dave
Hemmingway.
Campbell and other
members of the ARC staff
have been looking after the

Woman rescued from blazin

A 41 year-old Lucan
woman was arrested early
Thursday morning as the
result of a shooting incident
in the village Wednesday
night.
Mau,reen Therrien of 279
Oak street appeared in a
London court Thursday and
was charged with dangerous
use of a firearm, She was
remanded out of custody to
August 21.
Neighbours reported
several- shotgun blasts at
about 10.30 p.m. and police
were called. They
surrounded the house for
several hours.
Constable B.D. Munro and
Corporal Don Cox of the
Lucan detachment of the
Ontarib Provincial Police
learned on arrival that a shot
had been fired through the
front door from the the in-
side.
They decided to call in the

Usborne township council
this week decided to continue
with the present practice of
making two payments per
year to the Huron County
Board of Education. -
The board has asked all
Huron municipalities to
increase their paynoentS of
the school tax requisition to
four times annum.
Most councils in the county
are sticking with the present
structure of two payments
each year. Tax collector
Harry Strang reported that
92.2 per cent of the interim
1980 taxes for the township
had been collected.
With the engineer and two
ratepayers present, the
Coates municipal drain was

Petition on
Park noise
Stephen township council
will be asking the Exeter
Ontario Provincial Police
detachment` at Exeter • to
check into recent complaints
from Huron Park.
A petition presented to
council by Mrs. Coral Miller
and signed by about 150,
Huron Park residents cited
excessive noise by
automobiles and the ac-
tivities of dirt bikes during
recent weeks.
New water rates for far-
mers receiving water from
the new supply line from
Shipka to Dashwood have
been set, The charge will be
$1 for each thousand gallons
of water used with a
minimum charge per month
of $7. The water will be
metered.
The Ontario Ministry of
Revenue is being asked by
council to review township
assessments under Section
86 of the Assessment Act,
The move would be to
equalize assessments in
certain property classes
which were frozen by the
government some 10 years
ago.
Clerk Wilmar Wein said
the equalization would likely
raise some assessments and
lower others.
One tile drain loan ap-
plication in the amount of
$18.400 was accepted.
Clerk Wein will be at-
tending a meeting in
Stratford this week to review
Residential Equalization
grants. He said this week
that the 1981 percentage for
Stephen would be down to
4.22 , percent from 5.07 per-
cent during 1980.
Approval was given for
construction of 115 feet of
sidewalk in front of Grand
Coves Estates, just north of
the Grand Bend northerly
limits at the cost of $560.

saved when fire completely
destroyed a large barn on the
farm of Allan Scott, RR 1,
Lucan.
Not so fortunate were
some 80 rabbits which
perished in the fire.
While cause of the blaze
had not been determined by
firemen, owner Scott told the
T-A at the fire scene, "We
blew in straw yesterday. So
it could be sparks from that
or faulty wiring, Hay was not
in the area where the fire
started."

rattle and pigs, the elevator
workers managed to salvage
some farm equipment in-
cluding a tractor, and baler
from an adjacent building.
