Once again, plenty of runs
highlighted the action in the
Crediton sio-pitch , league
this past week.
Easton's defeated the
Kinsmen 12 - 11. the Farmer's
clobbered Veri's 26 - 10, the
Optimists got by Glanville's:
13 - 7. the Sandblaster's edg-
ed the Fainters 12 - 10 and
the Cowboys trounced the
Marauder's 17 - 4.
In the league standings,
the Farmers top the A divi-
sion with a perfect 8 0
record while the MaYauders
hold down second spot with
five wins.
The Sandblasters have a
three win and five loss
record while the Kinsmen
are two and six on the year,
Glanville's are bottom spot
with no wins.
The B division sees the
Cowboy's tops with a seven
win and one loss record with
the Optimists behind by two
wins.
...„Easton's are four and
three on, the- year while the
Painter's and Veri's have
two wins each.
Thursday night,, Exeter
Saveway edged out Lucan
Irish Nine Saveway
opened the scoring in the
bottom of the first inning as
Pan Heywood walked and
scored as Gary Skinner
tripled.
The Irish tied, the score in
the second as Kevin Windsor
singled and scored on ,a
passed ball.
Saveway regained the lead
in the bottom of the second
when BrianTaylor blasted a
long home run. They in-
creased their lead to 3-1 in
the' third as Gary Skinner
reached on an error and
scored on Brian Taylor's
single.
The Irish narrowed the
count to 3-2 in the- fourth
inning as -Kevin Lightfoot
reached 911 an error and
scored as Bandy Kraul
Saveway increased their
lead to 4-2 in the 'fourth as
Dennis Bierling reached first
on a fielder's. choice and
scored on 'Gary Skinners
ground' ball,
Lucan scored their final
run when Bob, Smith Was bit
by a pitch and scored on a
passed ball.
Ron Glenn toiled for
Lucan, He allowed 9 hits and
struck out 4 hatters. Brian
Hodgins picked up the win,
pitching a strong flame
allowing 4 hits while striking
out 9 Irish batters.,
Saveway 3 Sylvan 2
Sunday night, Exeter
Saveway edged out Sylvan 3-
2. Sylvan scored first in the
top of the first with their only
2 runs.

The Exeter juveniles
posted wins of 15-1 and 10-3
when they travelled to
Walkerton for a double-
header, Saturday,
The locals scored three
times in the opener and
never looked back as they
plated 15 tallies to back up
the five-hit pitching of Jeff
Fuller.
Brian Mercer paced the
attack with four singles and
a walk for a perfect af-
ternoon at the plate, Kevin
Easterbrook had three
singles. •
Kevin Hern blasted a home
run and a single, Steve
Pearce added two singles
and Dave Bogart rapped out
a triple and single. Joe
Becker recorded the other
hit, a triple.
Fuller recorded 10
strikeouts in the contest and
gave up the single run in the
fourth when Walkerton
jumped on him for three
straight singles.
Exeter jumped into a 7-0
lead by the top of the fourth
in the second game and then
coasted to the 10-3 triumph
behind Steve Pearce, who
allowed seven hits,
Herd led. the Exeter of-
fensive in that tilt as he
pounded out a home run and
two doubles, Becker had a
home yun and a single, while
Pearce aided his own cause
with two doubles. Mercer
came back with two singles
and the others were recorded
by Bogart, Beaver and
Easterbrook:
In a Tuesday night ,game
on the Dashwood diamond,
the Exeter midgets upset
their older cohorts by a 7:S
count.
The midgets scored five
runs in the final two innings
to pull the game out against
the juveniles.
Greg Prout and Dave
Shaw had two hits apiece to
pace the winners, while
single hits were recorded by
Horner, Tuckey, Fletcher
Chaffe and Rowe.
Mercer, Borden, fern,
Becker, Fuller and Rader
had a hit each for the
juvenile's. •
Horner went the distance
on the hill to record the win
for the midgets, while
Pearce took the loss in relief
of Fuller.
