Hensall continues in the top
spot in the Exeter and area
mens' rec fastball league.
On Monday Hurondale
held Hensall tea 3-3 tie While
the Hawks got by Dashwood
Industries 16-13.
Hensall is two points up on
the first year ebb with a
record of nine wins, two
losses and two ties.

Millwrights
in finals
The Milverton Millwrights
have advanced to the On-
tario junior ladies fastball
finals later this month in
Oshawa.
This past weekend the
Millrights took the top spot
in a regional final held in
Dundas, as they won five
games.
Playing an important role
in the Millwright's victories
were two local fastball
products Patti Down and
Sheila Penhale.
On Saturday Milverton
defeated Waterloo 5-2 and
lost to Byron 2-0 with Down
taking the loss.
The girls had a perfect day
on Sunday with Down taking
the victory in a 7-6 win over
St. Catharines. The Usborne
young ladies relieved Carrie
Shaw after two innings when
the score was tied at five
runs apiece.
The ladies went on to
defeat Byron in a double-
header 12-0 and 4-2.
Penhale played third base
in the six games.
Also advancing to the final
were Byron. St, Catharines
and Kitchener.
Ian Smith and Bob
Drummond topped the
Tuesday night men's club
action at Ironwood Golf Club
with identical gross scores of
38.
Smith won the "A" flight,
while Drummond took the
"B" honors.
Paul VanGerwen had a low
net of 33 to top the "A"
division and Ivor Small's 32
was best in the "B" group.
Ken Hockey and Don Cowan
were second in the "B" flight
with Hockey posting a gross
of 40 and Cowan's net of 32.
Tom Voerman had a 47 to
take the "C" gross title,
followed by Bill Gilfillan's
49. Brad Daters and Jerry
MacLean had nets of 34.
In "D" flight action,
Murray Finlayson had a
gross of 46 and the net honors
went to Don Jolly with his 31.
LADIES PLAY
The Exeter Golf Course
ladies continued their play
this week.
Bette Smith took top
honors in the A group, while
Shirley Davidson recorded
the best score in the B
division. Winner in the C
flight was Grace Drum-
mond.
Golfer
gets ace
A Lucan man, Ron
McLennan,scored a hole-in-
one at the Exeter Golf and
Country Club, Wednesday
evening.
He scored the ace on the
200-yard sixth hole.
Playing with McLennan to
witness the feat were Prank
and Vern Jensen.
Poor week
for pitchers
It was not a pitcher's week
in the Crediton men's slo-
pitch league as a total of 112
runs were scored in five
games.
In league play the Far-
mers nipped the Painters 10-
7, the Cowboys throttled the
Optimists 21-4, the
Marauders got by Eastons
15-9, Veris doubled up the
Kinsmen 10-5 and the Sand-
blasters demolished Glan-
villes 24-7,

The Crediton Cowgirls
went down in defeat in their
only game this week. The
ladies lost to Lucan by a
score of 13-4.
The Cowgirls took the lead
in the first inning by 3 runs
and kept the lead in the se-
cond with a 3-2 score, A
sudden rainstorm forced the
ladies to stop the game and
return onto the field after a
30 minute break.
The Cowgirls stayed alive
up to the sixth inning when
two bad innings made them
end up with their loss.
Leading the Cowgirls at
the plate with one run apiece
were Shelley Weber, Deb
Lord, Merna Scott and
Wilma Lagerwerf.
The Cowgirls play at
Lucan against Biddulph this
Hurondale and the Crescent
Rolls. Both teams have 15
points with the Rolls falling
to the Les Pines squad 11-3
Monday.
Gords are in fifth spot with
their six win and six defeat
record with Mt. Carmel only
a point behind.
On Monday the black and
yellow squad fell to the
hands of McKnights 14-9 who
recorded their first, victory
in five games.
Usborne and McKnights
are tied for seventh spot with
10 points each.
The Carpetbaggers are in
ninth position with nine
points while DIL remain in
the basement with eight
points,
In games played Wed-
nesday the Rolls defeated
DIL 11-8 and the Car-
petbaggers crushed
McKnights 12-0.
Sooner or later it's going tot
