Hensall United Church hold community service The Hensall United Church service was held in the Community Centre on Sunday conducted by the minister Rev. Stan McDonald who welcomed all visitors to the Worship service. The Snell family of Londesboro were guests for the ministry of Music. A song service opened the service when everyone joined in. The Snell family sang two numbers "Pass It On" and "Just Enough To Serve Me". Rev. McDonald spoke to the children on "Violin's" In the Message Rev. McDonald spoke on "Keep Going — getting on the Ball'. The Firemen served brunch outside in the park following the service. Carmel Church Rev. Kenneth Knight conducted church service on Sunday in Carmel Presbyterian Church speaking on "The Needs of the Nice and the Not so Nice". The flowers in the church were placed in loving memory of Mrs. Agnes Madge. There will be no Church service in Carmel Presbyterian Church next Sunday June 29th in "favour of the anniversary service at Cromarty Church at 11:00 a.m. when Rev. Dr. Douglas Fox of London will be the guest minister. Mrs. Nelson Hood passes away in Clinton Mrs. Vera Mary Elizabeth (Hutcheon) Hood passed away inClinton Public Hosp. Friday June 20, 1980 in her 79th year. Survived by her husband Nelson Hood, daughter Mrs. Ross (Joyce) Carter, London, four grandchildren, Jim, Donna, Jason and Ian. One brother David predeacesed. Funeral service was held from the Bonthron Funeral Home, Hensall on Sunday, June 22nd at 2 p.m, with Rev. Robert McMullen of- ficiating. Interment in Baird's Cemetery. Pall bearers were Alex McBeath, Ernie Talbot, Lloyd. McKenzie, Everett Robinson, William McLaughlin, Hugh Hendrick. Flower bearers Jim and Donna Carter. Three Links seniors visit Huronview A large representation of members from the Three Links seniors visited Ruronview on Tuesday at noon. After registering all partook of a delicious Meal after which a period for visiting was enjoyed followed by an afternoon of entertainment by Martha and Earl Heywood. Persona Is Mr. and Mrs, Ed Corbett have moved into the Elizabeth Court Apartments, 107 and welcome to the village. A successful bus trip was held on Monday June 16 to Milton. Even the weather co- operated as it was sunny but not too hot. First visited was the Ernest. C. Drury School for the Hearing Handicapped which gave everybody a better understanding of the life of the hearing disabled. Lunch, was next, eaten in the Women's Institute Hall at the Ontario Agriculture museum. Following that a tour of the museum was given with excellent guides. Next, to the Lion Safari in Rockford where all the animals put on a special display for the children among us (and who didn't qualify for that category )., The trip was sponsored by the Huron South District of the Women's Institute and was organized by Mrs. Carl Payne. Amber Rebekah Lodge closes for holidays The final meeting of Amber Rebekah Lodge for the holidays was held on Wednesday evening with Noble Grand Mrs. Hazel Corbett presiding assisted by Vice-Grand Mrs, Elizabeth Riley, who reported for the visiting committee. Final plans were made for decorating the "Float" for the Fair. The Inaugural Thanks to a fine turnout of both competitors and spectators, there's an ex- cellent chance that the Ontario Fiddlers' Contest sponsored by the Ilensall Kinsman club will be held next year. Chairman Wayne Reid termed. 1980 as a "test year" for the contest following a slight drop in attendance the previous year. He expressed satisfaction about this year's event with over 400 spectators viewing the finals Saturday evening, Reid paid tribute to the ef- forts of all the volunteers including the Kinsmen, the Kinettes, the K-40 club and the Hensall Cub pack for making the tenth annual Future of show less doubtful Soo fiddler tops, .at local contest fiddler's contest a sUCCeSs. Carl MacNaughton of Lucan won the division with Willis Desjardine of Dash- wood second. Rockey Nash of Thornhill placed third, In the 55 to 70 division Fred Harburn of Staffahad a third place finish with Reg Freer of Kerwood • in" the top position, Al Smith of Minden placed second,. Also com- peting in this category was Bill Harvey of Exeter. Winning the 70 plus fid- dling contest'was, 75 year old James McCrory of St. Thomas. Alfred Renaud of Windsor and John Farrish of Listowel of placed second and third, Taking the novelty fid- dligng category was John Crozman of London while Elizabeth Woods was tops among the lady fiddlers, For the step dancing, fans, two sisters from Watford took top honours in two of the three categories, Judy Willoughby was tops in the 9-12 age bracket HOLD LUNCHEON Mrs. Eric Luther was hostess at her home on Wednesday when about thirty members and friends of the Salvation Army Home League, London Citadel enjoyed lunch and 'a social hour with Mrs. Luther and friends. title in the 25 and over division was Grace Hymers- Carter of Stratford. Murray Currah of Bright's Grove was runner-up. Two of the busiest people on the stage at Herman were not entered in the com- petition. Providing a professional touch to the announcing duties was Johnny Brent, formerly 'of CKNX, Wingham. Accompanying the step dancers were the father and daughter combo of Gerry and Linda Smith of Exeter. Smith also competed in the open competition. THANKS OF A DIFFERENT SORT — Hensall Fiddlers contest MC Johnny Brent of Wingham had one of the more pleasurable tasks at the competition Saturday.
