School requisition up
by councillors until the next
meeting.
Permission was given to
the Lucan Venturers to use
the Lucan crest on t-shirts
for fund raising purposes to
allow members to attend the
1981 World Jamboree to be
held in Western Canada.
A letter was received from
the Lucan Women's Institute
thanking council for a bench
placed in front of the Post
Office. The letter added, "It
will certainly be well sat
on."
Bill Haskett
is president

president of the Western
Ontario Funeral Services
Association, at the annual
meeting held Wednesday at
Pelee Motor Inn,
Leamington. Also attending
were Sue Haskett, Eileen
and Clarence Haskett.
The deadline for receiving
of tenders for the upcoming
Beech street construction
was set for June 3 with
completion of the contract by
August 15.
Works superintendent
Doug Johnston was given
permission to hire part-time
summer help for his
department as required.
Councillor Larry Hotson
reported that Boy Scouts had
planted 52 silver maple trees
in the Elm street park.
Thirty-six members of the
Lucan Sunshine and Busy
Buddies Groups signed up to
attend "Annie Get Your
Gun," at the Huron Country
Play House and the list will
be held open for members

A "double" birthday
dinner was held Thursday
evening at the home of
Eileen and Clarence
Haskett, in honour of Mrs.
Blanche Haskett and
Clarence, whose birthdays
fall on May 8 and 9 respec-
tively. A nice birthday
present some years ago!
Belated congratulations to
both. Guests were present
from London, Goderich,
Grand Bend and Lucan,
for another week before it is
opened to others,

An excellent treasurer's
report was given by Agnes
Hotson and it was decided to
invite the Seniors from
Montrose, Michigan for a
return visit the first week in
October.

Emery, Ethel Lewis and
Florence Stanley. A card
was signed by all members
for Marie, who is ill, in
London.
A singsong, euchre and

While the 1980 budget and
tax rate will not be set until
late this month, Lucan
council learned Friday night
that the Middlesex Board of
Education requisition would
be $186,578, a sizable in-
crease from a year ago.
Reeve Ivan Hearn added
that the county rate payable
by Lucan residents would be
down by $7,500.
Council learned the results
of a recent traffic count by
the Ontario Ministry of
Transportation and ,Com-
munications. It was done in
response to a request by
council for traffic lights on
main street.
The count showed 486
vehicles used main street
between 10 and Ii a.m. and
between 4 and 5 p.m. the
traffic count was 594.
A feasibility study on
expansion of the Lucan
sewage system has been
received and will be studied

Rev. Bill Donovan who will
be the guest speaker for the
next four days of an-
niversary services.
Rev. Donovan spoke from
1 Kings 18:41-46, As Elijah
had to pray seven times until
he saw the sign of rain, so we
need to continue in prayer
until we see the miracles
come that God has promised.
In the evening service
Larry McGill played piano
as he, his wife Julie with
Doug Butler sang songs of
love for Jesus our Lord. The
choir, under the able
leadership of Mrs. Marlene
Thornton ministered in
music singing "Something
Beautiful", then "I sing the
mighty power of God."
Rev. Bill Donovan spoke
from Psalm 91 showing there
are seventeen promises in
this Psalm, of God's care for
us.
