Permission was given to the Lucan Venturers to use the Lucan crest on t-shirts for fund raising purposes to allow members to attend the 1981 World Jamboree to be held in Western Canada. A letter was received from the Lucan Women's Institute thanking council for a bench placed in front of the Post Office. The letter added, "It will certainly be well sat on." Bill Haskett is president 13111 Haskett was elected president of the Western Ontario Funeral Services Association, at the annual meeting held Wednesday at Pelee Motor Inn, Leamington. Also attending were Sue Haskett, Eileen and Clarence Haskett. The deadline for receiving of tenders for the upcoming Beech street construction was set for June 3 with completion of the contract by August 15. Works superintendent Doug Johnston was given permission to hire part-time summer help for his department as required. Councillor Larry Hotson reported that Boy Scouts had planted 52 silver maple trees in the Elm street park. An excellent treasurer's report was given by Agnes Hotson and it was decided to invite the Seniors from Montrose, Michigan for a return visit the first week in October. Lucan No. 1 Club presented a skit "Everybody Cooks, Party" and No. 3 gave a demonstration "Energuide Can Save You Money" with Susan Hodgins as commentator. The fall club will be on "Your Corner of the World" featuring skills in macrame, planning accessories and arranging them in the club girl's bedroom. Reeve Ivan Hearn added that the county rate payable by Lucan residents would be down by $7,500. Council learned the results of a recent traffic count by the Ontario Ministry of Transportation and ,Com- munications. It was done in response to a request by council for traffic lights on main street. The count showed 486 vehicles used main street between 10 and Ii a.m. and between 4 and 5 p.m. the traffic count was 594.
