The Roll Call was answered with "Have you ever felt like running away from home?" Stephanie read a selection called "Love One Another" and this was the theme for the evening. In their presentations of prayers and stories, they showed how to live in a world where there is a lack of love, in school, in life in general, and sometimes in our families, but we can always depend on God. A scavenger hunt in which people of the Community were asked to perform specified actions, was played and members thank those who participated in this game and added to the fun. YQtx may think this is very trivial commandment, especially in this twentieth Century, the second com- mandment is as up-to-date in our churches today as in the time of Moses, We have things in our church that are very sacred, such. AS the .cross, and ourstained glass. windows, that remind us of God, What has this to do with 1980 and our superstitions? said Rev, Morden, I am. going to name some very popular superstitions which exist today, (1) technology, machines have become idols, man can create en- vironmental destruction, (2) faith in education, man is more than a brain, he has a will and a heart. (3) progress, most of us still believe in this superstition in spite,of two world wars and other lesser ones. (4) the current worship of liberation, when we make liberty an idol, we turn it into license, and finally religion, I believe religion has become an idol, we worship our- selves instead of the true God. At St, Thomas Anglican Church, Rev. Gregg Smith conducted the Service, taking his sermon from the Gospel of St. Luke, Rev, Smith referred to the Ministry of Jesus, saying that in Christ's Ministry we hear the word of God, and the Truth will set us free. For the children's Story, the rector used a puppet to illustrate the importance of telling the truth. He said a huge surplus in potatoes and subsequently a lower price is due to imparts from the Eastern Canadian provinces and front U.S. states, mostly from Maine and Florida. The seed producer said only about one-third of the potatoes consumed in Ontario were home grown, His average yield of the seven varieties of seed potatoes is about 350 bags containing 75 pounds each., An Ontario Potato Producers Marketing Board is in it's first year of operation and Van Leeuwen also belongs to a Seed Producers organization. Klein-Westland turnips will be sure tope the first to hit the Ontario market this summer, Almost two weeks ago some 30,000 turnip plants were transplanted to a one and a half acre sandy plot of the Van Leeuwen farm, He is believed to be the only turnip farmer in Ontario to grow plants in the green houses and then transplant to the field when they are about five inches tall, They are started in a greenhouse and then trans- ferred to a cold frame for a couple of weeks to become hardier to withstand cool weather before being hand planted. Van. Leeuwen said five persons were able to trans- plant about 20,000 turnips in one day, Spanish onions are the only other crop to be transplanted while cooking onion and carrot seeds are sown, The Van Leeuwen's have five children.
