thinking• abOnt registering
three and four year olds next
September they would be
advised to contact registrar,
Debbie Plumb 262-5243, now
and see if spaces will be

already in school will have
an opportunity ,to pre-
register.

La Leche League in Huron
Smith held its meeting last
month at the home of Mary
Beuerman, in Seaforth,
Twelve people were present
from Goderich, Clinton, and
Seaforth. The leader Mrs,
Peter Bisback, Hensall, led
the.discussion on which dealt
with the family and the
breastfed baby and Child-
birth,
Many women who undergo
a caesarean section delivery
regain their feeling of
confidence when they know
they are fully able to nurse
their infants despite the fact
that they have had a difficult
birthing experience. It was
pointed out that breast
feeding is one of the easiest
ways to care for a baby
expecially following surgery
when a mother must con-
serve energy,
Concern was expressed
over contaminants and how
they affect breast feeding.
Mother and her Baby; She
and her family exposed like
everyone else to the
pollutants in the en-
vironment. Someappearin
small quantities in human
milk. Because it points up
the problem dramatically
("even the best, purest food,
for infants is affected"),
This fact has been, em-
phasized. Some have con.
chided the solution is to
discontinue breast feeding.
This conculsion is un-
warranted, A baby taken off
the breast is not thereby
protected against the
pollution which affects.us all.
On the contrary, the small
amount of contaminants
have produced no demon-
strable effects in breast
feeding babies, while all the
known benefits , of breast
feeding continue to be
operative.
May's meeting will be held
in Seaforth again at the
same address in the af-
ternoon of May 14th at 1:30
p.m. Any woman is welcome
to attend a meeting or
borrow books from the local
league library for a period of
a month. The next series will
begin in June in the Clinton
area. The meetings will be
held in the evenings.
