Exeter 235-0779 DEDICATE NEW CHOIR GOWNS — Exeter United Church choir received new gowns on Sunday March 30, Mrs. Thelma Russell presented the new gowns to Rev. James Forsythe who accepted and dedicated them, Under the leadership• of Mrs. Russell, the fund for the gowns had been growing for several years, Mrs. Ada Dinney and her committee completed the pro- lect of selection, and on Sunday a fresh bright choral presentation that heralds Spring carried the choir processional into the church sanctuary and to the choir loft. Sunday supper guests with Gloria Harvey, Kevin and Dwight Beireling were, her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Henry Adkins, her parents and brother, Mr. and , Mrs. Howard Adkins and James, an aunt, Mrs, Margaret Hess, all of Zurich and area, and a nephew Jeff Wareing, -of Kippen, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Zielman and family, Gary, Ruth, Sisie, Debbie and Angie, attended a Janzen family gathering, for Easter Sunday dinner at the home of Annie's brother, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Janzen, in Kingsville. Morenze relatives in the area attended the funeral of their cousin Ralph K. Genttner, at Trivitt Memorial church, in Exeter last Tuesday. Mr: and Mrs. Otto Plein; Christopher and Melissa, of Elmira, visited on the weekend with her parents Fermon and Leota Snyder. Other family members joining them all for Easter Sunday were Keith and Nancy Snyder, Greenway, Esther Snyder and friend of London, Jim and Judy Snyder, and Ed Snyder all of this area. represented. Those are but a few of the many speakers who gave up their time to help the students learn about the process of government. On March 25, Miss Monique Begin, Minister of Health and Welfare spoke to us. One student surprised the Minister by asking her if she will run 'for the Leader of the Liberal Party. She was astonished, ! Seminars on the House of Commons, the Senate and the Supreme Court of Canada were held in the appropriate buildings in Ottawa. Over the period of one week, there were more than twenty seminars, lectures and discussion groups. Time was set aside for meeting with Members of Parliament.- I had the privilege of having a couple of meals with Ralph Ferguson and his wife (M.P. for Lambton-Middlesex) which proved to be very interesting. All of the students taking part in the program stayed at Ashbury college, an Independent Boy's School in Rockcliffe Park. My roommate was a girl from Montreal who spoke French only so we made good use of our English-French dictionaries which we had taken with us. Elaine is a Grade 11 student at ,N.M.D.H.S. in Parkhill. This is her story: It was an honour and privilege for me to represent North Middlesex District High School and this area, at Forum for Young Canadians in Ottawa for the week March 22-29. Forum for Young Canadians is an unique educational program designed for a close-up study of the dynamics govern- ment, including meetings with federal politicians and other leaders. Forum for Young Canadians was started in 1976 by the non-profit Foundation for the Study of Processes of Government in Canada, • The students who par- ticipated in the program were aged 16 to 18. All provinces are usually shawe College and is spending two weeks on work experience at Strathroy- Middlesex General Hospital. Kim Cunningham has completed her Executive Secretarial course, also at Fanshawe College and is on work experience at 3 M in London . Meets The U.C.W. of Clandeboye United Church held their April meeting at the home of Mrs. Andy Thompson. President - Mrs. Charles Coughlin presided and Mrs. Keith Brown conducted the worship service. The U.C.W. Regional will be held at Lieury United Church May 5. Clandeboye responsible for the music for that meeting.
