Dear Colleague :
TV Ontario, in response to
changes in the Education Act
and the Child Welfare Act is
presenting a six-part
television series, Every
Child Is Special. The first
program will be telecast
May 6.
The programs are directed
at parents and at
professionals who work with
children.. Information about
children with learning
disabilities, gifted children,
abused children, and
children of divorced parents
will be presented. The for-
mat of the programs in-
cludes dramas, documen-
taries, and interviews with
professionals and parents.
Discussion is encouraged
through a phone-in portion to
studio guests and to the local
chapters of associations such
as the Ontario Association
for Children with Learning
Disabilities, Association for
Bright Children, Parents
Anonymous, and Parents
without Partners.
A viewer's guide for Every
Child Is Special is available
free of charge. The guide
contains tips for classroom
practice, stories, articles,
viewing activities, research,
and community resource
information. The flyer that is
included here is designed to
be reproduced. Please make
it available to your teachers.
Since this material is of
interest to parents as well,
we ask that as a community
service you inform the
parents of your students.
If you require more in-
formation about the project
please call me.
I am, your truly,
Mary Fisher
