Stuart Bullock attended the United Church Huron- Perth Presbytery sessions on Tuesday, held in the Hensall United Church. Several officials of Grace Art contest going again, Once more an art contest sponsored by the Stratford and District Right to Life will be held in all the elementary schools in the Huron 'Perth counties. The theme will be "EVery Stage of Life is Beautiful and Precious" and posters will be set up in every school. There will be two classes with prizes of $1Q.00, $5.00, and $3.00 in each group. Deadline is April 30th. Total yearly circulation, was 200,43, an increase. of 19,160 over the same period 1978. Bayfield„ Goderich, Hensall, Wingham and Zurich branch .libraries. showed a marked increase in circulation. Total number of requests filled at headquarters in Goderichwas 2,598 items, an increase of 425 over the 1978 total. Film bookings in- creased 22. per cent pp to 2,614 films borrowed. The summer reading theme and midterm ac- tivities were some of the programs, sponsored by Huron County Library to celebrate the International Year of the Child. Book Clubs were formed at Goderich and Bayfield Branches, Huron County received $7,000 Wintario grant for the' purchase of Canadian books, The library participated in. the half-back program for the purchase of Canadian records. Fourth Perth County townships, Wallace, Hibbert, Blanshard and Fullarton „ gave grants to Huron County Library for service to Perth residents, The Seafortb Huron Expositor and the Zurieh. Citizens News were microfilmed. . The 1978• editions. of other local newspaper were also put on microfilm.. The library purchased text books for the instructors of the Adult Basic Education Program in Goderich, The library had a total budget of $449,799 to work with; $317,117 from the County of Huron, $117,322 from the Province. of Ontario, _63,360 ' from Experience '79 grant, $7,000- from. Wintario, $0,00. other. Forty-six per cent of this budget was spent on salaries and .25per cent on books. The rest was spent on processing, capital equipment, rents, benefits and miscellaneous. It cost about $8,95,per capita. for library service. In 1979 the property committee of Huron County Council purchased the Pentecostal Church at 66 Waterloo Street, South inGoderich for the express purpose of a new library headquarters. This purchase will mean increased library service throughout the county. The library Board pur- chased a new van for book deliveries. Talking books (books on tape for the visual ban, dicapped) are available through any of the town and village libraries. These books are borrowed front the collection at Midwestern Regional Library System, Kitchener, A list of these titles are in a "Talking Book Catalogue".
