Deane & Laughton Solicitors for the executrix, Exeter, Ontario 8:9:10c Olympics good, bad According to an Exeter resident who attended the winter Olympics at Lake Placid, New York' the transportation system was as bad as the actual sporting events were good. Bryan Tuckey• said cat- ching a bus from the site of the downhill race Thursday involved much patience and several cold feet for the thousands of spectators who witnessed the third place finish of Canadian Steve Podborski, Tuckey said his group avoided a major wait for the bus when they witnessed the qualifying run for the ladies downhill. By the time these runs were completed there were still about 5,000 people lined up for the shuttle buses. His group experienced only about a five minute wait as a bus pulled up to an open spot in the parking lot. If there was one group which was suffering from the poor transportation system it was the scalpers who in many„ cas,es,„wiere selling tickefs for less than their face value. At the hockey game bet- ween Canada and Poland there was one scalper with a group of tickets three quarters of an inch thick Tuckey stated. Alluding to the hockey game which Canada won, Tuckey called it the best hockey game he's ever seen although' the behaviour of many of the 5,000 fans left something to be desired with much drinking and rowdiness Prices for everything in Lake Placid were high and entrepreneurs both and young and old attempting to make a buck. Tuckey said there were several youngsters selling souvenir t-shirts out of equipment bags, Dance for nursery The Lucan Co-op Nursery ochool is organizing a fun- draising dance to be held at Lucan Arena on -April 12. Tickets will cost $10.00 a couple .and will include a lunch. Tickets may be purchased by calling Janis Latta at 227- 4059 or from any member of the Nursery School. A good time is anticipated as the band "Day Break" will be in attendance. Mrs. Carols Greenlee was hostess Tuesday evening for the A.C.W. meeting, She carried out the Valentine theme with 11 members present. President Marguerite Greenlee was assisted with prayers by Viola Atkinson, Vicky Gee, Carol Greenlee, Eileen Carroll and Hazel Mr. Paul Schott spoke on the subject "You'd Better Believe It" at the service in the United Church on Sunday morning. As a Biblical reference he used the healing of the man suffering from palsy. Jesus had compassion and His love for the man prompted Him to bring healing, The choir sang an anthem and there was a vocal duet by Mrs. Lois Wilson and Mr. Gill and Mrs. Gill playing the organ accompaniment. The flowers in the church were in memory of the late Ronald Essery. Another problem I en- countered was trying to hold down my shirt sleeve while putting on a coat. That's practically impossible .if your middle finger doesn't bend. And -it's very un- comfortable to feel your sleeve bunched up 'under your -coat. There was one problem that I was able to overcome. The doctor had told me to keep my finger dry. So when I took a shower each mor- ning, I put a baggie over my finger and fastened it on. tight with masking tape. That sure beats trying to wash your hair wearing rubber gloves. When it came time to have the stitches removed, many generous friends offered to pull them out for me, One fellow--a hockey player who's had stitches many times--assured me that he could yank them out painlessly. Nevertheless I returned to Dr. Steciuk. I told the doctor about the many kind offers to remove the black threads. " Trying to practise medicine without a licence, were they" he said. Again I was surprised to find the operation was painless. Dr. Steciuk assured me that my manual dexterity would return.
