returned from a two week
holiday in Orlando, Florida.
Mrs, Jessie Finkbeiner,
formerly of this area,
recently suffered a fall at her
home and broke her hip. She
will be hospitalized several
weeks at Welland County
hospital, Welland, Ontario.
Elda. and Elgin Adams,
Les and Marjorie Adams, of
Exeter, called last Tuesday
night at Geo. E, Logan and
Sons Funeral home, London,
to pay "respectsto the family
of their cousin, Queenie
Irene (Hodgins) Brown, who
passed. away at University
hospital, February 10.
Predeceased by her husband
Clinton Roy Brown. Sur-
viving are one son Howard,
and two grandchildren.
Funeral service was held
in the chapel, February 13th
with Ftev. Bruce Small, of
Robinson Memorial Church
officiating. Interment was at

United Church news.
Twenty three ladies met
last Thursday afternoon in
the S.S. rooms of United
Church. Hazel Blewett
conducted the worship
service on a theme of
"Love" on this St. Valen-
tine's day. A collection of old
time valentines were on
display, one dating back to
1929. Scripture reading was
from 1st Corinthians, the
13th chapter. Hymns 488,
"Come let us sing of a
wonderful love," and 330
"Love Divine", were sung.
Hazel read Valentine stories,
sonnets of Shakespeare,
poems by Robert Burns and
Browning. A silent prayer
was observed for loved ones.
She closed with a reading,
"What is love."
President, Eleanor Durie,
presided for the business.
The ladies decided they
would cater to a meal for 50
to 60 people, who are cciming
She told us of the shinto
Shrine which Japanese
Christians are opposed to on
grounds of religious
freedom. Only one per cent
of Japanese are Christians.
Japan leads the world in ship•
and camera production. She
told us of one famous
Japanese Canadian, David
Suzuki, (a geneticist) and his
great scientific work.
Meeting closed with

hostesses were Norma
Desjardine and Greta

cakes decorated with red
hearts.
The lovely stained glass
windows of the United
church, have been absent for
several weeks having repair
work done on them. They are
now back in place looking
very beautiful.
The sermon text "Can
Goodness survive?" by Rev.
H. Moore, was based on the
scripture 12th chapter of
Jeremiah, and 13th chapter
of Matthew, verses 1-9.

Twelve Church of God
ladies met Thursday evening
in the S.S. rooms for their
February meeting.
Roll call was answered by
"A craft to share."
A mission study was done
on Lebanon by Betty
Campbell, which took the
form of a guided tour, where
they met a pastor and his
wife, in Beirut, who an-
swered questions.
In absence of President,
Katie Vincent, the meeting
was chaired by Millie
Desjardine. They discussed
the budget and upcoming
events during the business.
Lunch hostess, Marian
Steckle served Valentine
cookies.
Thirty youths and leaders
met Friday night at Church
of God for a study period,
followed by games at the
Public school gym.
Valentine cup cakes were
served for lunch.
Rev. J. Campbell and
several youths attended a
Youth for Christ skating
party at the Zurich arena,
Saturday evening, Following
with a meeting film and
lunch.
At the Sunday evening
Church of God service, a
slide presentation on Brazil
was shown. Millie Desjar-
dine led the worship by
asking questions, which
were answered by portions
of scripture from the
congregation. A special
musical treat. was a trio, of
Rev. and Mrs. John Camp-
bell and Millie Desjardine
singing "Do you know my
Jesus?"

Port Franks crash
There were no injuries in a
single car crash in Port
Franks last Friday, and
damage was estimated at
$1000. The vehicle involved
was driven by Daniel

February 10 to 16, the Pinery
Park detachment of the
Ontario Provincial Police
laid 15 charges under the
liquor licence and one act of
wilful damage was in-
vestigated. The police also
