BUT SMALL ENOUGH TO BE FRIENDLY In a free scoring South Huron intermediate hockey game Thursday night at the Hensall arena, the Hensall Sherwoods defeated the Exeter Mohawks 8-6. After a first period tie of 1- 1 the Sherwoods took a big lead with five goals in tie middle frame while the Mohawks could only get one score. The Mohawks rallied with four straight goals in the third after Hensall had moved in front 7-2, but, couldn't get the equalizer. The two first period goals were scored only 14 seconds apart. Brian Taylor hit for the Mohawks on an unassisted effort and Alan Taylor converted a pass from Steve Knight for the Sherwoods. Five different players shared in the second period Hensall scoring. Hitting the mark were Jamie Caldwell, Greg Campbell, Steve Knight, Rick Ingram and Murray Connelly. Rick Ingram and Alan Taylor each picked up two assists while Steve Knight, captain Jim Ferguson, Tony McDonald, Greg Campbell and Jamie Caldwell helped set up one goal each. The Only Exeter second period score came from the stick of Jim Guenther as he finalized a three-way effort with Brian Taylor and Barry Baynham. Early in the third period, Fred Campbell put the Sherwoods ahead 7-2 with assists going to Jamie Caldwell and Greg Camp- bell. The Mohawks came roaring back with three straight goals fired by Brian Taylor to up his game total to four. Barry Baynham provided passing help for two of Taylor's scores while captain Bill Van Bergen picked up a single assist. The fourth third period- marker for the Mohawks was shot by Randy Gilfillan on a pass from Jim Guen- ther. With two minutes left in the game, Steve Knight scored the final Hensall goal on a pass from Jim Ferguson. The Sherwoods took seven of the even dozen penalties handed out by referees Ron Watt and Iry Ford. On Monday the Sherwoods had a rough go of it as they fell to the northern division leading Goderich Merchants 8-2. Picking up both Hensall goals was Brian Campbell. Assisting on the goals which were scored in the first and second periods were Allan Taylor, Steve Knight, Tony MacDonald and Garry Koehler. The Sherwoods play Kettle Point at home Thursday and travel to Goderich Monday. Meet Preston, Sunday Jets fade again in latter stages WIIINE11111111011111111MMINII TELEPHONE SERVICE: REDUCTION IN TWO-PARTY RATES The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) has directed that, EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 19, 1980, Bell Canada monthly rates for two-party residence service will be decreased. Reductions will vary between 15 and 90 cents depending on the applicable rate group. For example, in communities such as Beardmore, Bright, St-Zephirin and ChOte-des-Passes, where individual-line service costs $4.95 a month, two-party rates will be lowered from $3.60 to $3.45. In communities such as Howick, Thetford Mines, Stratford and North Bay, where individual-line service is now $6.25 a month, two-party rates will be lowered from $4.60 to $4.00. In Ottawa and Quebec City, two-party rates will decrease from $5.30 to $4.80, and in Montreal and Toronto, two-party rates will decrease from $6.15 a month to $5.50. In addition, for two months starting on February I9, the installation charge (service charge) for two-party residence service will be reduced to $5.00 * provided the service is for new customers in households which do not have any telephone service and which are located within the base rate area of an exchange. * Customers who take advantage of this reduced charge and who, within six months, request to change to individual-line service, will be charged the difference between the reduced and normal installation charges.
