The Centralia College
Saints gained only one point
in two games this week in the
South Huron intermediate
hockey league.
Monday,:the Saints
dropped a 5-3 decision to the
Hensall Sherwoods and
Wednesday night they were
held to a 6-6 draw by the
Grand Bend Mariners,
Penalties played a big part
ein the Saints-Grand Bend tie.
All six College goals were
scored while a Mariner was
in tit penalty box and the
Grand Bend club was able to
score twice on power plays.
Grand Bend held an edge
in scoring in the first two
periods of play. They led 3-1
at the end of the first 20
minutes of play and each
scored one goal in the middle
frame.
The Mariners scored two
goals in the first six minutes
ofplay. Tod Sherk converted
a pass from captain Mike
Desjardine and Pete Gil
scored on a pass from Rick
Moody.
In the last two minutes of
the ' opening session, Rick
Vanos scored for the Saints
on a three,pay 'effort with
captain Marty Becker and
Ed Michniewicz.
In the middle frame, Tod
Sherk counted for ,Grand
Bend on a play started by
Mike Desjardine and Rick
Vanos replied for the Saints
with assists going to George
Black and Ed' Michniewicz.
Joe Falsetti scored for
Grand Bend on passes from
Pete Gill and Pete Gil early
in the third period and then
the Saints fired four straight
goals.
Ed Michniewicz, Randy
Johnson, Mike Sadler and Al
Lobbozoo were the
marksmen. Assisting were
Michniewicz,, Ken Vanos,
Marty Becker, Sherwood
Hinze and Randy Johnson.
With less than four
minutes remaining Rob
Teevins ,scored for Grand
Bend on an unassisted effort
to get the tie.

, In the Hensall win over
Centralia College the' last
half of the garne belonged to
the Sherwoods. They scored
the last eight goals of the
game.
Brian Campbell, Jamie
Caldwell and Alan Taylor
each scored three goals to
lead the Hensall scoring
attack. Scoring in single
fashion were Gary Kyle,
Steve Knight and Rick
Ingram. Captain Jim
Ferguson was the top
Hensall playmaker with four
assists. Next came Steve
Knight with three assists,
Brian Campbell and Alan
Taylor each helped on two
goals and single assists went
to, Gary Kyle, Tony
McDonald and Fred Camp-
bell.
The four goal CCAT
scoring was shared equally
by Rick Vanos and Ken
Vanos. Ken Vanos and Marty
Becker each gained two
assists and Rick Vanos and
Ed Michniewicz helped on
one score apiece.
Keep in mind that even if

their one goal lead but a fine
effort by Bill Hoffman put
the Tigers and Fat Alberts
into , overtime. Rick
Morrissey added the assist,
The teams then played a
ten minute overtime period-
with the London squad
scoring with only three
minutes remaining to be
played.
The Tigers then applied
the pressure with Bill Hoff-
man scoring the tying goal
on a breakaway with only 51
seconds remaining in' the
period. Bob Hoffman and
Jim Skinner assisted.
The game then headed into
the fifth period with both Joe
Arnold in net for the Tigers
and Waterman in goal for
Fat Alberts making several
fine saves.
The Tigers culminated
their come-from-behind
heroics at the 8:30 mark
when Dave Turner scored
from a scramble in front of
the London liet. Larry
SWIM,' and Paul Maguire
picked up the assists.
Seafortlx found their way

victories over Exeter Les
Pines and London Fat
Alberts,
Lucan made their way into
the final with a 5-3 victory
over Zurich and a 5-2 win
Over Pfaff Electric of
Exeter.

Bedour, while Ron Funston
replied for Centralia on
Cronyn were the Centralia
marksmen with assists going
to Pete Glover, Dick Lord,
Randy Somerville and' Ron
Funston.
In the third period, the
Marauders struck for two
quick goals by Dennis Carty
and Mark Cronyn to take a 7-
4 lead. Cec Nickles ',and
Randy Somerville assisted.
The Buckeyes roared back
with goals by Gerald Weido,
Rick Schilbe and Pat Bedard
to tie the score.
With two minutes left Ron
Funston converted a pass
from Pete Glover to put the
Marauders ahead, but, Steve
Bedour tied the score for
Zurich with 57 seconds left.

Two of the top teams in the
South Huron intermediate
hockey league, the Centralia
Marauders and Zurich
Buckeyes battled to an 8.8
draw in Zurich Sunday af-
ternoon.
' In South Huron games
tomorrow night, Thursday,
Goderich will be at Centralia
and the Exeter Mohawks
travel to Hensall while
Sunday Thedford goes to
Zurich to meet the Buckeyes,
Grand Bend is at Kettle
Point and Centralia College
visits Parkhill,
In Sunday's, game, the
Marauders held, a 74 lead
early in the third period, but,
the Buckeyes were able to
bounce back and gain a
single point in the standings.
The game was only 31
seconds old wirtn Mark
Cronyn put the Marauders in
front on a three-way effort
with captain Ron Funston
and Pete Wuerth.
A minute later, the score
was 2-0 as Blair Hearn
registered on passes from
Cec Nickles and Pete Glover.
At 4.47, Rick Schilbe put the
Saints get one point
in three SH games
