successful bottle drive
recently, thanks to all in the
community who contributed.
Church-Annual
Meeting
Sunday evening, following
a delicious potluck supper,
the congregation of
.Lucan Bible
Society results
The Lucan Branch of the
Canadian Bible Society
reports that the 1979 con-
tributions are slightly higher
than the previous year,
$1319'.
These monies were raised
through the walk-a-thon,
personal donations and
memoriams.
The executive thanks all
whoparticipated in any way.
The 1980 Executive

Cromer ty Presbyterian
Church held its annual
meeting, with the Rev.
Kenneth. Knight presiding,
and Mrs. Robert Laing as
secretary.
The meeting opened with a
hymn, scripture and prayer.
The following reports were
read and approved: Session,

Ross, Women's Missionary
Society, Ladies' Aid, Marian
Ritchie Evening Auxiliary,
Cernetery, Church
Treasurer's and Cromhenex,
Mervin Dow moved a vote
of thanks to.,Thos. L. Scott
who is retiring as an elder
after many years of faithful
service, The session report
showed that there is a
membership of 158, with 17 of
them being non-resident.
Two members removed their
certificates in 1979 and there
were two baptisms and three
deaths in the congregation.
The Trustee report noted
that the land on which the
church well is situated has
been leased, from Alex
Gardiner until January 31,
2000.
The church treasurer
reported that the Budget
allocation had been met,
with $1,578,73 having been
sent to Toronto.

Dennis Timbrell, Minister'
of Health for the Province of
Ontario will be the guest
speaker at the' Annual
Meeting of the Perth-Huron
VON on Tuesday, March 4,
at the Victorian Inn in Strat-
ford.
The main topics of concen-
tration requested will be:
Community Health for On-
tario in the 1980's and the
role of Voluntary Agencies
in the Delivery of Health
Care in Ontario in the 1980's.
Dinner will be at 7 p.m.

Elwood Morden conducted
the worship and entitled his
sermon "The Amazing
Apostle". This referred to
Andrew who (1) was
responsible for.bringing his
brother Peter to Christ, (2)
was the first home and
overseas missionary (3) the
first Sunday School teacher
and responsible for bringing
the boy with the five loaves
and two fishes to Jesus, said
Rev. Morden.
Receiving Sunday School
attendance awards were the

At St. Thomas Anglican
Church Canon David Rees
was in charge of the service
taking his sermon from the
Gospel of the Day the 8th
chapter of Matt. Canon Rees
dealt with the Plagiarism of
Rome, and the healing of the
Centurion's servant. Jesus
said, if you have not learned
to obey God, you will never
be a commander, said the
speaker, we must have faith
and obey God's orders and
trust Him.
At the' Granton Com-
munity Bible Church Rev.
Glen Fretz of London taught
from Philipians chapter 1 12-
20, His message was entitled
"Victory over AdverSary",
in this passage Paul
challenges Christians to see
difficult times as an op-
portunity to trust and honor
God.

undergone surgery Wed-
nesday.
Calvin Fahrner of

spent the weekend 'with their
mother and all visited with
Mr. Fahrner in hospital.
Mrs. Palmer is remaining
for a few days.
The organization meeting
of the 4-H club, "Your
Corner of the World," will be
held Monday, February 4, at
7 p.m. in the Crediton
Community Centre. Girls 12
years of age by March 1 1980
are welcome.
The ladies coffee club met
at the home of Mrs. Brian
Elder. Nine ladies were
present for the first meeting.
The book "Fullfilment" was
chosen for study.
An excellent congregation
was in attendance at Brin-
sley United Church on
Sunday to participate in the
Annual Meeting. Following
the worship service, the
church members enjoyed a
pot-luck dinner with a
wonderful variety of home-
cooked food and baking.
The annual report was
presented in a booklet, and
each report was read and
liscussed. Mr. Peter Snell
feted as chairman of the
ineeting and Mrs. Paul
Hodgson acted as secretary
to take the minutes. The
officials and members of the
various boards were
unanimously reappointed for
the 1980 term.

Mr. and Mrs. Neil
Vevithick spent the week-
end at her home in Bramalea,
and visited with her father
who is a patient in Brampton
Hospital.
Rayburn Steeper's house
on the 4th concession of
McGillivray was destroyed
by fire Thursday evening.
There had been no one living
in the house.
Congratulations to Mr. and
Mrs. Jerry Morley on the
birth of their baby boy born
in St. Joseph's Hospital
