Scoring started quickly
with each 'team counting in
the first 10 seconds of play.
George Black scored for the
Saints. on a pass from Ken
Vanos and -.Jim Guenther
replied for the Mohawks on
an unassisted effort.
Before the first period
ended George Black hit for
COAT with assists to Marty
Becker and Ed Michniewicz.
The Mohawks marksmen
was Scott Burton with
passing help from Brian
Taylor and Randy Milan.
In the second period, Brad
Taylor and • JiM Guenther
scored for Exeter while ,Ed
Michniewicz and Kyle
Pederson hit for .the College.
Ed Michniewicz scored
two third period goals for the
Saints to complete a hat trick
performance -and Rick
Vanos added the third
counter.
Brian Taylor, Dan
Preszcator, and Bill Van
Bergen scored in the final 20
minutes for Exeter. .
In another game this week,
the Goderich Merchants beat
the Centralia College Saints.

Atoms win one
The local atoms were 'also
busy as they took to the ice
four times this week; but
they could muster only one
win, that a 13-2 drubbing
over Oakridge on Sunday.
The Broncos were stopped
8-2 by LMHA in another
Shamrock tilt and they
dropped both games in the
annual Seaforth winter
carnival tournament.
Bryan Quinn paced the
winning attack against
Oakridge with four goals,
while Steve Lingard, Jon
O'Connor and Ron Loucks
had a pair each. The singles
came off the sticks of Dave
Russell, Vern Iskauskas and
Robbie McLean.
Paul Mellecke and Bryan
Quinn scored the tallies
against London Minor in last
Tuesday's contest. •
In the Seaforth tour-
nament, the locals were
stopped 3-1 by the host team
in their opener and they
dropped a hard-fought 2-0
verdict to Kincardine in their
second outing.
Ron Loucks scored the
only game mustered by
Exeter in the tournament on
a play with Bryan Quinn.
Pee Wees win
The Exeter pee wees
stopped London Minor 4-2 in
their only Shamrock outing
this week.
London went ahead 2-1
early in the third, but the
locals came back with three
straight tallies to salvage the
victory.
Scott Bogart, Scott Lovie,
Jeff Pfaff and Alan Pym
fired the markers with
George Pratt drawing two
assists and one each by
Terry "Zachay, and:-Pfaff.
Playing in the annual
Legion zone tournament in
Brussels, Saturday,the locals
blew a three goal lead as
they bowed 5-4 to Wingham
in overtime.
Waxers get point
The Exeter Waxers picked
up their second point in the
Shamrock league standings
this week when they battled
Dorchester to a 3-3 draw on
the latter's ice, Saturday.
The locals did it the hard
way, as they came back
from a three-goal deficit to
get their second tie of the
season. They have yet to post
a win in Shamrock play.
After spotting the home
team a three goal bulge in
the first period, Exeter
started their comeback when
Doug Clark scored late in the
opening stanza on an
unassisted effort.
Midway through the third,
Robbie McLelltind whittled
the lead to a single goal when
he skated from his own end,
put a neat shift on a lone
defender and found the open
corner.
McLelland then scored the
equalizer with just two
minutes left when he batted
a puck into the cage during a
scramble around the Dora
chester net. Jeff Rowe and
Larry Lewis picked up
assists on that play.
Exeter held high scoring
defenceman Sean Burns to
only one goal in the game' as
they checked him closely
whenever he picked up the
puck. Scott Wedlake and
Harlen Tinney also came up
with a couple of good saves
each on Burns to keep the
Waxers close enough to
make their comeback.
Playing at home, Sunday,
the locals were thumped 6-0
by Mt. Brydges, which was a
vast improvement over their
earlier 13-0 loss to the same
team.
Bantams post win
The Exeter bantams
posted a 4-1 win over London
Minor ,in their only
Shamrock loop tilt this week,
but dropped both games in
the annual Clinton tour-
nament.
The locals took a 1-0 lead in
the first period against
London, Wednesday, and
were never headed.
Scott Brintnell scored •a
pair, while John Kernick and
Ted Oke added the singles.
Kernick also had three
sticko of Dave McFadden,
Jim: Coffey,. George Black,
Ken. Va nos and Ed.
Bruce Bowman. led the
Goderich attack with two
goals. Adding singles were
Paul Sheaffer, Steve. Chase,
Phil Petrie, Barry Bloch and
Tom Q'Brien.

11-5 victory over the Exeter

league play, Sunday in

nesday, the locals scored
late in the third period to
post a 7-6 win over Strathroy.
Rick Lindenfield pepped the
winner with 36 seconds left
on a play with Toni Coates,
The locals led 5-2 at one,
point and almost frittered it
away.
Other goal scorers for the
Ideals were Dave 'Under-
wood, Bill Relining, Dave
Shaw, Mike Murray, Pete
Tuckey and Wayne Smith..
Ed Willis led the assists
department with a pair.
Saturday night the locals
faced a short-handed Lucan
crew and had a stiff test
before winning 6-5. Lucan
had only seven skaters.

with two goals? while singles
came off the sticks of Dave
Jackson and Mike Clark.
Jeff Liley had a pair for
the Irish.
The contest against
Seaforth was a chippy affair
with both teams picking up
17 minors before Exeter
posted a 6-5 triumph.

one-man scoring attack as he
potted four of the six tallies
and assisted on one of the
others. Jamie Chaffe and. Al
Gaiser picked up the singles.
