The Exeter midgets had a
busy week, splitting a pair of
Shamrock tilts and losing 3-2
to Forest in an exhibition
contest.
The locals started the
week off with a 6-4 win in
Mt. Brydges, Thursday. The
teams traded two goals ear-
ly in the game before the Ex-
eter crew took. the lead early
in the second and were never

Despite a very poor season
record to date the Lucan
Ilderton Jets came up with a
very important victory,
Sunday in OHA Continental
senior league play.
The Jets scored an im-
pressive 7-2 win over the
Preston Jesters and kept
their hopes for a playoff spot
alive.
Sunday's win was the
second in their last three
starts for the Jets after being
involved in a 20 game losing
streak. They had started the
season with wins over two of
the -strongest teams in the
league from Petrolia and
Chatham before falling on
hard times.
Former Jets manager Don
Urbshott who is now contact
man for the team with the
OHA told the T-A Monday
morning, "We still have a
good chance to make the
playoffs. We are only two
games behind Preston in the
important loss column and
have two games in hand. We
also meet the Jesters in two
more scheduled games.
They will be must contests."'
The two big games with
the Jesters will be in Ilderton
on February 10 and back in
Preston on February 15.
Urbshott reported that
regular goalie Peter Crosbie
was injured in the third
period of Sunday's game and
could be lost to the team for
as long as a week. Urbshott
added, "We have three
important games coming up
this week and the loss of
Crosbie will hurt.
Backup goalie Dan
Murray took over when
Crosbie was hurt and
stopped all shots fired his
way.
The Jets will be in Strat-
ford tonight, Wednesday to
meet the Perths, Friday
night they will be at home at
the Ilderton arena to the
Chatham Maroons and
Sunday they travel to
Cambridge.
The Jets wasted little time
in Sunday's game to show
Preston they were ready to
play and chalk up their
fourth win of the season.
They held a 4-0 edge at the
end of the first period and by
the six minute mark of the
middle frame had extended
the margin to five goals.
The game was four
minutes and nine seconds old
when Hugh Mitchell of the
Jets stole the puck from a
Preston player while the
Jesters were enjoying a one
man advantage and raced in
alone to score,
Ed Parkinson made the
score 2-0 at 16.18 as he
completed a three-way
effort with. Hugh Mitchell
and Dave Revington. A L-I
power play produced their
third goal at 18 minutes with
Ed Robb scoring on a power
play in a pass from Ed
Parkinson. Only 44 seconds
'later, Tom Hodgins hit the
mark with the assist going to
Steve Proctor.
A slap shot by Ed
Parkinson at 5.48 of the
second session upped the
Jets to a 5-0 lead. Bob Deane
and Rick Banks assisted.
The first Preston score
came at 15.20 of the second
period from the stick of Doug
Schonefeld..
Preston playing coach
fired his team's final score at
3.59 of the going home
period.
The Jets were able to
regain their five goal margin
before the game concluded.
At 10.26 Hugh Mitchell
notched his 'second goal of
the game with assists going
to 'have Revington and Ed
Parkinson and with six
minutes left Tom Hodgins
registered on. a play started
by Ed Robb and Bob Deane.
Saturday, the locals spotted
Forest a 3-1 lead and almost
pulled out the tie with a pair
of goals in the third period.
Dave Jackson and Mike
Clark notched the Exeter
goals with assists to Dave
Shaw and Ed Willis.
Waxers thumped
The Exeter Waxers re-
main winless in Shamrock
novice play this season, ad-
ding two more losses to their
record this weekend.
The lads put on a spirited
display in Lucan Saturday
afternoon before bowing to
the powerful Irish crew by a
verdict. It was one of the
better Exeter performances
this season.
Mark Ouimet, Darren Neil
and Tim Carter scored a
pair of each to lead Lucan to
the win.
Jason McFalls and David
Josephson replied for Ex-
eter, both being in the right
spot to push a pass from
Doug Clark into the open
net. Josephson also drew an
assist on the McFalls goal.
Sunday afternoon, the
Waxers came up with one of
their worst showings of the
season as they watched St.
Marys roll to a 13-0 win at
the rec centre.
