Zion Lutheran Ladies' Aid
held the January meeting
Tuesday. at the home of Mrs.
Ray VanDorsselaer with
group i in charge. Mrs.
Charles Martene, president,
presided and the following
business took place. Twenty-
three shut-in boxes were
packed and delivered. The
Altar Guild made 16 calls
and sent one flower. The new
Guild is Mrs. Lloyd Rader
and Mrs. Irvin Rader. The
February meeting will be
held at the home of Mrs.
Gordon Kraft. Several
donations and cards of
thanks were read for
donations made prior to
Christmas, Material for a
quilt is to be purchased. Mrs.
Dave Rader is to contact
Jack Doerr about con-
firmation picture duplicates
of those destroyed in the fire
back to 1948, Anyone having
pictures prior to that date
please phone Mrs, Racier.
All ladies of the
congragation are asked to
participate in the bazaar
planned for this fall, Group 1
had closing devotions and
lunch. Seniors to meet
Senior Citizens will meet
Monday January 21, Quilting
will be done in the afternoon
and all ladies who like to
quilt are welcome. The men
are invited to come and play
cards, shuffleboard or
whatever they enjoy. A pot
luck supper at 6:30 will be
followed by the regular
meeting.
Return from England
Elealior Salmon and friend
Susan Feaver, Southcott
Pines returned home safely
but tired Monday morning
from London, England. They
spent a week there enjoying
theatre, the national gallery,
British Museum, West-
minster Abbey, Windsor
Castle, Hampton Court and
even a church service New
Year's morning at St. Paul's
Cathedral. Many other
sights and tours were en-
joyed even viewing the many
ounkers on Camaby Street.
Because Of strikes at
Heathrow in London, their
flight was delayed and a
subsequent stopover, in
Prestwick, Scotland added to
their adventures. •
The January meeting of
Calvary United church
women was held Tuesday,
with the Executive in charge
and a skit "Old Year - New
Year." Three cheers were
led by New Year (Mrs. Hugh
Boyle) Old year (Mrs. Eben
Weigand)asked all members
to share what in their life
wa's memorable in the old
Year. Two-members, Mrs.
Bill Chandler and Mrs. Don
Geiser led in unison scrip-
ture reading. New Year
asked all members write.a
New Year's resolution to
improve your life.
Mrs. Mildred Kellerman
has volunteered to do the
study book on. Japan far the
year. Her first presentation
was on the Geographic
picture of the country. Next
month will be the People.
President, Mrs. Gordon
Bender presided for the
business. Cards of thanks
and donations were
acknowledged. Nine shut-in
boxes were packed at
Christmas. The Sunshine
committee is Mrs. Mildred
Kellerman and Mrs. Letta
Taylor. The church annual
meeting will be held
February 3. The thirteenth
Huron-Perth presbyterial is
January 28 in Goderich
United church.
Passes away
Marie Wein .Brown, 55,
passed away at Central Park
Lodge, London, Saturday
January 5. She was the
laughter of the late Bill and
Barbara Wein of Dash-
wood. She is survived by one
sister, Grace, 'Of Vancouver
who was in London for the
memorial service.

Grace Anglican Church
attended the induction
service, Sunday evening for
their new rector, The Rev.
Timothy F. Hill, formerly of
Delhi, in the St. Paul's
Anglican Church, Thedford.
Afchdeacon G. Pearce
conducted the induction
service, and the sermon was
preached by the Rev. R.
Anions of St. John's Church,
Simcoe.
On Thursday evening, the
annual vestry meeting will
be held in the Anglican
Church and the annual
congregational meeting in
the United Church. A full
attendance is requested.
The Ladies Guild of the
Anglican Church held their
January meeting Wed-
nesday afternoon in the
Parish Hall, when the new
year's activities were
planned. At their February
meeting donations will be
received for the Cancer
cupboard.

United Church Women in the

A donation was voted sent
to Camp Menesetung and it
was decided that five ladies
would attend the
Presbyterial at Goderich in
January.
Following the business
meeting a Finance meeting
was held to plan the year's
activities followed by a tasty
lunch and a social hour.

Mary Hodgins on the birth of
a daughter on Wednesday, a
wee sister for Lorna,
Mrs. Harry Horner is a
patient in St. Joseph's-
Hospital, London.

the 90th birthday celebration
recently, for their aunt, Mrs.
John Nairn, which was held
at the home of Mrs. Nairn's
daughter and son-in-law, Dr.
and Mrs. Donald Hay,
London.
Friends here have learned
of the death of Mrs. Lilly
Moore in Detroit. The former
Lilly Belt, she spent her
childhood and youth just
west of here. Sympathy is
extended to her brother
George Belt, Moray, and to
her sister, Mrs. gva
Batiteau, Grand Bend, A
brattier, Tom, who lives in
Mithigan, also survives.
