The Year without A Santa Claus By KAREN MILLER Grade 4, Usborne Central One morning Santa Claus woke up and wasn't feeling well. He had a bad cold and a headache. Oh! how terrible he felt. He didn't know how he could give gifts out this year. He decided to phone all of the children and tell them there would be no Santa Claus this year. When the children found out, some of them cried and screamed. Then one of the children decided to let everybody know, and so he went to the newspaper man and told him to put it in all of the newspapers. He did. The next morning, Mrs. Santa Claus got the paper and on the very first page it said, Santa is having a holiday this year, and had him laying in bed with a great big red nose, That morning every child in every country heard about it and felt very sorry. Then one person got a plan and told everyone. They were going to give Santa a great big holiday by giving him gifts this year and also sending him letters. When Santa woke up the next morning, his room was covered with letters and presents. He felt so good he jumped out of bed and called all of his elves to pass the message around that he will be around next year with a lot more gifts! Dear Santa By KIM PRANCE Grade 7 Usborne Central Hi Santa! How are things. From what I hear you are a jolly old fellow with a big round jelly belly. You also have a white beard and you also give every child what they want for Christmas. At least I got what I wanted. But this Christmas it's The Year of the Child and I was wondering whether you were going to give the needy children what they wanted. Like a roof to live under with lots of food to eat and clean water to bathe in. I understand if you don't because too many children are asking for too many things and with prices the way they are you'll never be able to buy them anything, Unless most of the children give up some of the things they want and contribute to you for the needy children I'm giving up some of my presents that I want so that it won't take as long for you to deliver them quickly and get to the poor who need the presents I'll write again! Year of the Child By LORI JOHNS Grade 7 Usborne Central The year 1979 was the year of the child. This year wasn't as special to us as it would be to children in India or Pakistan or Africa. There was advertising and shows about International Year of the Child but it was all about far away countries. The children are solitary because their mothers and fathers are always working to get food and make their lives better. Probably some people in the world are disgusted about the cloths that the children wear. When I saw the advertising on television I felt sorry for those children. They were whimpering and hungry. Some children are, deformed and have diseases because they don't have the proper foods. If the families had half of what we've got they would be happy. Christmas Is By MONA MORK IN Grade 6 St. Patrick- Lucan Christmas is the turkey meal, Christmas is the Christmas seal. Christmas is the love and kisses, Christmas is being nice to my brother and sisses. Christmas is having a joyous time, Christmas is the Christmas collection, For you to add a nickel or dime. Christmas is wonderful! A Christmas Poem By JACQUELINE CRONYN Mount Carmel School Christmas carols still ring out, On Christmas morning, kids do shout. Under the Christmas tree, Mounds of presents there will be Outside now, the ground is white. Isn't it a beautiful sight? The trees aren't covered here and there, For in the spring, the trees are bare Tonight down the chimney comes St. Nick Down like a shot, lickety split. In the morning, children will be Under the tree, Shouting with glee. In all the excitement And all the rush, There won't be, One single hush, Every family, goes to Mass, And in conclusion, MERRY CHRISTMAS! At the North Pole By DANNY MELLIN Stephen Central There is a little brick house at the North Pole, In it lives dear Santa Claus, a jolly old soul. In the work shop, the elves work up a storm, To make the gifts that children open on Christmas morn. I hope I will get a lot of things that will add to quite an amount, But if I don't, it doesn't matter It's just the thought that counts! Santa's Workshop By DEBBIE HORTON Grade 5 J.A.D. McCurdy Santa is really busy Making all those toys, Like dolls with hair that's frizzy! For good girls and boys. The elves are busy, too! They polish up the sleigh, And they have much more work to do! They give the reindeer hay. Rudolph still leads the team, Santa's still jolly and plump! He still rides through the moon beams, And the reindeer land with a bump! When Santa gets home to the North Pole, He takes off his red clothes, And gets into bed, like a fox in a hole. Like a bear he yawns, and off he'll dose! iNolp;ro ZNO Ait514, SZtrg5.;02K Christmas morning By SUZANNE KORICINA Grade 3 Mount Carmel School.
