Crediton WI entertain hubbies •

Members of the Crediton
Women's Institute treated
their husbands to supper at
the 4 Way Inn in Exeter
Wednesday evening, Guest
speaker were Phyllis and
Cliff Green, who showed
slides and spoke on Greece.
The next meeting will be
held one week earlier than
usual on December 12.
Exchange 'of Mystery sister
gifts will take place.
The Indoor Gardening
short course had successful
evening and afternoon
classes. The ladies, directed
by Mrs. Allan Finkbeiner
and Mrs. Walter Fydenchuk -
learned to make a macrame
hanging , a dish garden and
terrarium. Summary day is
April 7 for the whole area.
Persona Is
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard
Gower, Winnipeg, Manitoba
have been visiting with their
sister Mrs. Allan Finkbeiner
and family, and relatives in
the area. Mr. and Mrs,
Gower left for home early
Monday morning.
Saturday was 4-H
Ahievement day for the girls
in Crediton and area.
Mothers, daughters, and
friends gathered at Stephen
Central School to see the
projects completed by the
girls and enjoy skits and
demonstrations.
Receiving County
Honours were Kim Galloway
and Ruth Ryan. Provincial
were Susan Fleming, Anne
Glavin and Judy Haist.
In the awards and trips
program , Cindy Thompson
gave highlights on her trip to
the 4-H provincial con-
ference in Guelph, this
summer.
Jane Sullivan reported on
the National 4-H Conference
held in Toronto.
Earl Emerson
Haist
At St. Joseph's Hospital,
London on Tuesday,
November 20, 1979, after a
short illness, Earl Emerson
Haist of Crediton passed
away.
Born in Stephen Township
76 years ago on July 13, 1903,
he was the eldest son of
Henry Haist and Martha
Gaiser. He enjoyed farming
and retired in 1976 from his
farm on consession 4 of
Stephen Township.
He was a member of
Centralia United Church and
formerly belonged to the
Crediton E.U.B. Church
where he was an active
member of the choir and
Sunday School.
He leaves to mourn his
wife, Jean Mountain, a son,
Robert, Huron Park, a
daughter, Margaret (Mrs.
Don Wilson), Cayuga and
two grandchildren, Tammy
and Jason, a sister, Lyla
(Mrs. Ed Hendrick),
Crediton and brothers
Gordon, Crediton and
Arthur, Grand Bend. He was
pre-deceased by his brother,
Royal on April11, 1979.
The funeral service was
held Friday, November 23
from the T. Harry Hoffman
Funeral Home, Dashwood.
The service was conducted
by Mr. Paid Schott, Cen-
tralia United Church,
assisted by Rev. Brian
Elder, Zion United Church,
Crediton.
Pallbearers were Donald
Hendrick, Howard Hendrick,
Lawrence Amos, Peter
Haist, Douglas Redmond
and Cameron Haist.
Interment was in Avon-
bank Cemetery.
