The meeting opened with a recording of Jamaican music. Mrs. Kellerman read a poem, The ladies sang "He's Got the Whole World", Scripture readings were by Mrs, Earl Guenther and Mrs. Clayton Merner, Mrs. Don Gaiser led in prayer followed by the West Indies. Lord's Prayer on record. Faye Gaiser played a piano solo Miss Barbara Laing spoke and showed slides on the beautiful island of Jamaica where she lived for a number of years before coming to Canada six years ago, She gave the history of Jamaica and many interesting happenings, She has been back every year and sees many changes especially the effect of Christianity on the slaves. She was thanked by Mrs. Gaiser and presented a gift, Two songs followed "Island in the Sun" and "Jamaica Farewell". President, Mrs. Gordon Bender, dealt with the business and Miss Laing presided for the election of officers: President- Mrs. Gordon Bender; vice- president- Mrs. Don Gaiser and Mrs. Jack Gaiser; secretary- Mrs. Hugh Boyle; assistant, Mrs. Bill Chan- dler; treasurer, Mrs. Ralph Weber; pianist- Mrs, Ken McCrae; assistant-Mrs. Mervyn Tiernan; card convener- Mrs, Greta Schade; nominating com- mittee- Mrs. Lloyd Guen- ther, Mrs. Bill Chandler and Mrs. Letta Taylor; prayer group convener- Mrs. Eben Weigand; auditors, Mrs. Harry Hoffman and Mrs. Letta Taylor. Group conveners are: World Outreach, Mrs. Eben Weigand; Christian Development, Mrs. Pon Gaiser; Stewardship and Finance, Mrs. Bill Chandler and Mrs. Hugh Boyle; Church and Society, Mrs. Mervyn Tiernan; Christmas program for 1980, Mrs. Mervyn Tiernan, Mrs. Hugh Boyle and Mrs. Eben Weigand; Study Book on Japan, Mrs. Mildred Kellerman, A pot luck Christmas dinner will be held December 11 with the choir guests. Donations were made to: War Memorial Hospital, Children's hospital, Care Canada, World Development and Relief fund, Canadian Bible Society, London District Crippled children, Family and Children Ser- vices. The Sunshine com- mittee is Mrs. Jessie Rader and Mrs. Ken McCrae. The meeting closed with a Jamaican lunch. Ladies Meet The November meeting of Zion Lutheran church ladies' aid was held Tuesday, November 13 at the home of Mrs. Lloyd Rader with group three in charge of devotiOns and lunch. Pastor Mellecke took for the topic "Children in the Congregation." President, Mrs. Lorne Genttner, dealt with the business. The roll call was answered by 22 members. Ten cards were sent out. The Altar Guild reported 13 calls, The new Guild is Mrs. Lorne Genttner and Mrs. Florence Keller. Donations were made to the Blind, Family and Children's Services, Lutherwood and the seminary at St. Catharines. The Christmas meeting will be December 11 at the community centre with Group one in charge Groups two and three will provide a program. Gifts will be ex- changed. The collection will go to the Lutheran Hour, Christmas treats for the shut-ins will be packed December 16. Mrs. Mellecke had closing devotions. Personals Scott Parker, London, and Mark Wolfe, Dorchester, spent the weekend with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Wolfe. Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Rader visited with Mr. and Mrs. Everard Miller Grand Bend, Sunday. Flowers in the church, Sunday, were placed in loving memory of Mrs. Amelia Willert by her family. Pall bearers for Mrs. Susan Snider who was buried Wednesday, November 14 were Hubert, Harold and Jake Schroeder, Armin Bruer, Melvin Stade and Arnold Becker. For Mrs. Amelia Willert whose funeral was Saturday were Larry Willert, Robert Newton, Randy Becker, Steve Willert, Don Clarke and Don Jewitt. Miss Cynthia Willert, North Bay, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Willert and family and also attended com- mencement at South Huron District High School.
