Lee Jeans & Jackets Western Boots, Hats, Belts & Shirts Hand Crafted Leather Goods Midgets only win • in minor hockey Exeter's minor hockey teams found the opposition a little too strong again this week and the midgets were the only ones who could muster a victory. They accomplished that feat in Port Stanley, Saturday, by a 5-2 count and only a few hours after five members of the team had played in a bruising football game for the South Huron junior Panthers. After spotting Port Stanley a quick lead on a power play, the locals rebounded to score three in the first and were never headed after that. Wayne Smith paced the attack with a two-goal performance, while the singles were fired by Jeff Rowe, Bill Glover and Ed Willis. Drawing the assists were Jim Lovie, Mike Murray, Dave Underwood, Rick Lindenfield and Rowe. Wednesday at the rec centre,,Strathroy scored four times in the first period and then hung on to beat the midgets by a 6-4 count. Dave Underwood led the attack with two goals, with the singles coming off the • sticks of Bill Glover and Jeff Rowe. Mike Murray drew assists on two of the tallies and helping on one each were Glover, Rick Lindenfield and Underwood. Lose two more The Exeter Waxers remain winless in Shamrock league play as they dropped two more tilts this week, by identical scores of 4-2 to Strathroy and Belmont. In Strathroy on Saturday, the locals watched the home team score four times before they finally started to play hockey and make the contest interesting. However, their two goal rally fell short in a battle between the league's two winless teams. B.J. Batten notched Exeter's first goal when he backhanded Doug Clark's pass into the net and David Josephson picked up the other on a play with Jarett Kobe, At home on Sunday, the locals stayed even with the Belmont crew' until the last half of the third period when their hopes for a win were dashed as Belmont scored a pair. 11111 Jarett Kobe started the Exeter team off on the right foot with a marker in the first period, and after Belmont took a 2-1 lead later in the game, B.J. Strathroy spotted the locals an early lead at the rec centre on Wednesday and then came roaring back to post a 4-2 win. Scott Lovie popped Exeter's lone tally with the assist going to Sean Whiteford. St. Marys scored three times before the locals hit the sheet on Saturday and then went on to post a 4-3 triumph. Atoms drubbed The local atoms were dumped 11-2 when they hosted St. Marys, Sunday, with seven of those tallies coming in the final period.
