Hensall Pee-wee girls
completed the baseball
season by finishing second in
the league and second in the
tournament held at
Cromarty on Saturday.
They advanced to the
championship game by
defeating Elimville in round
one and were defeated by the
Exeter Cool Cats in the final
game.
Hensall girls congratulate
the Cool Cats for a well
played game and for winning
the trophy. The girls would
also like to thank their
Parents for their en-
couragement and help
through the season both at
home games and as drivers
to away games to the um-
pires and the score keepers
who all did an exceptional
job. Thanks also to Kay
Gardiner and Karen Dickens
who coached all year.
Gospel singing opened the
usual morning service at
Hensall United Church on
Sunday led by Rev. Stan. C.
McDonald. All the hymns
carried out the theme of the
cross. Assisting at the piano
was Miss Brenda Pepper and
soloist for the service was
Mrs. Daniel McLeod of
Exeter who sang a beautiful
solo, "Why me"ord?"
accompanied on the piano by
Mrs. Cecil Pepper.
The children's story was
"Courtesy always pays" and
the children were advised to
be lovable at all times and to
all people.
The sermon was on,
"Darkness comes - but God
is with us." The text, "All
things work together for
good to those who love God"
reminded all of the terrible
tragedy at Woodstock but
just as the stars shine
brightest on a dark night so
when facing a crisis
Christians experience the
great light of God's grace
strengthening us,
Services at Hensall United
Church will be held at the •
usual hours next Sunday,
August 19. The following two
weeks, August 26 and Sep-
temher 2, the United Church
will be closed and everyone
is invited to worship at
Carmel Presbyterian
Church at 11:30 a.m.
