WORKING ON PROPS — Resident designer Christopher
Brown and carpenter Mark Cole discuss production problems
at Huron Country Playhouse.
Dashwood windows are available in a wide range of
sizes and styles, in six basic configurations:
Casement, Awning, Bow, Bay, Glider and Single
Hung. The Casement, Glider and Awning windows
are available with the MILLENIUM finish that never
needs painting. But remember this: ALL Dashwood
windows and Gliding Doors, whether Millenium
finished or not, are precision manufactured of soft
textured Ponderosa Pine. They're knot free, and the
regular windows can be given a natural finish or they
can be painted or stained to match other woods in
your home.

I I r
problem to the church. I'm
sure that the church would
have a much better use for
$700 than unnecessary sewer
hook-ups.
In the past governments--
federal, provincial and yes,
municipal--have given
churches vaiious benefits.
Exemption from taxation
has 'been a long-time
tradition.
Green made the motion
that the church be exempted
from the mandatory sewer
hook-up knowing that he
would not get a seconder. He
wanted his opinion to be a
matter of record. Rules are
made to be broken and
council has the power to
make exemptions, he says.
I think he's right--and I
hope council will reconsider
the church's request.
You don't have to be crazy
to work here, but it
helps.

along with the others.
Council is going to insist
that Grand Bend United
Church install sewer con-
nections on the two vacant
lots that are used for outdoor
summer church services.
They refused to support
Green's motion that the
church be exempt from this
ruling,
These lots are also the
front yard of the church's
manse, and enjoyed by Rev.
Moore and his family.
At last council meeting
Leroy Keyes attended on
behalf of the church and
asked that the church be
exempted from the ruling
which states that all
buildable lots must have
sewer connections.
Keyes was told to go back
to his church and have them
reconsider the request.
Council felt that the church
should install the sewer
connections now at a cost of
$350 apiece ($700) now rather
than pay $1400 apiece to put
them in at a later date,
The church replied that
they did not see any reason
to install the sewer con-
nections. Adequate hook-ups
are being put in for the
church building and the
manse.
Rev. Moore says that there
are "absolutely no plans
whatsoever" for building on
those lots. They will continue
to be used as a park-like
setting for outdoor church
services, he says,
At the council meeting,
Reeve Sharen suggested that
the church won't be at that
location much longer. Many
downtown churches in
Toronto have move d out, he
says. And a church in
Stratford is now a
restaurant, he added.
But a church in Grand
Bend is a far cry from one in
Toronto, or even Stratford.
Rev. Moore says that the
church has had a steady
increase in members over
the past four years. There is
no reason to believe the
membership won't continue
growing and the building
won't be there, he says.
Grand Bend United Church
has been in use for 52 years,
and it will continue there for
at least another 52 years.
Services held outdoors in
summer have been a
tradition for 75 years. Before
the present area was used,
service was held on the
beach. Many of Grand
Bend's visitors return each
summer to take part in the
outdoor worship, under the
cool, greentrees. It won't be
pleasant to see this well-kept
area torn up to install sewer
connections which are
totally unnecessary.
Reeve Sharen suggests
that money won't be a

After machining, all wood components are treated with a special water
repellant preservative which penetrates deep into the wood for maximum
protection against moisture and decay. You get a window or gliding door
which will keep its beauty for a longer period of time.
Gliding Doors
Dashwood gliding doors are constructed of the same high quality preser-
vative treated Ponderosa Pine. Safety tempered glass and Dashwood's
unique Dual Durometer vinyl weatherstripping provide effective barriers
against the elements. You stay cozy in the winter - cool in the summer! Also
available with Dashwood's exclusive Millenium vinyl sheathing.

Insulating Glass
Dashwood insulated glass uses two or three panes of hermetically sealed
glass to put a still, dry blanket of air between you and the weather! There
are only two surfaces to clean - and no storm windows! In place of putty -
wood windows feature a special wood stop used with a flexible caulking -
MILLENIUM uses a glazing bead with flexible vinyl seal. They're easier to
remove and replace, tool These up-to-the-minute glazing systems reduce
heat loss (which saves you money), misting, frosting and condensation.
Winter or summer, Dashwood insulating glass keeps the weather in its
place!
