this past week.
The Cadets are still collecting popcans, and returnable bottles to raisemoney for equipment and otherCadet-related activities.
The Cadets attended Seaforth and
Brussels Santa Claus parades anddid “tagging”. They gave pens fordonations received.The Legion’s general meeting was
held Tuesday evening with nine
comrades in attendance. The regularcommittee reports were heard withdonations being passed for the areahospitals.
Branch hours for December were
discussed with the decision to be
open Christmas Eve from 3 - 6 p.m.
The Legion will be closed
Christmas, Boxing Day and New
Year’s Day.
The Christmas meat draws will be
on Dec. 15 and the potluck and gift
exchange will be Dec. 21.
The Thursday night darts saw 22
players take aim at the boards.
After regular play, there were four
teams tied for first place.
Following the playoff Sharon
Robbins, Catrina Josling and John
Harrison finished first and Bill
Kammerman and Gord Jacklin
finished second.
The high shot was by Roger
McHardy shooting 133. The second
skunk of the season was earned by
Marlene Little, Heather Little and
Sandra Josling.
The Friday night supper of
salisbury steak was enjoyed by a
smaller crowd due to the inclement
weather. This week is beef stew and
tea biscuits.
The Saturday afternoon euchre
saw 11 tables at play. The first-place
team was Jim Coultes and George
Inglis, 77 points. Coming in second
place with 76 points were Deanna
and George. The third-place team,
Charlie and Millie Johnston, was
right behind with 75 points.
The low prize went to Bush
Whittard and Olave Little. The lucky
lone hand prizes went to Iola Subjectand Earl Smith.The Sunday night dance wascancelled due to the weather.
The last early bird winner was
drawn on Nov. 30. The winner,
Elaine Nichol, joins Greta Zehr and
Kelly McDonald in receiving their
2009 dues free. Comrades are
reminded that dues are due by Dec.
31 and are now $50.
There were eight comrades off to
participate in Zone team darts in
Lucknow on the weekend. Coming
out as top team of the day were team
Bob Richardson, Ken Bird, Ron
Schmidt and Norm Wylie. The
second team from Brussels,
finishing in fourth place consisted
of Eric Ross, Cam Ross, Andy
Adams and John Harrison. Congrats
to both teams on advancing to
District play in Elora in the new
year.
