Blyth Icedogs play Seaforth Stealers, win 2-1 The Blyth Kings travelled to Seaforth to play their Bantam boys team on Wednesday, Nov. 28. Blyth was first to get on the scoreboard after defensive player Shawn Reinink whacked the ball off the boards and up the ice. Centre Greg Roetcisoender picked up the loose ball and scored on a breakaway. This goal would be the only goal of the game in regulation time. Both teams had scoring opportunites, but were unsuccessful in getting the ball across the goal line. There were some exciting plays and powerplays but neither team was able to make it work. With ice time remaining the teams decided to practise some overtime. Mike Rawlings scored a goal for Blyth and Wyatt Bearss scored the second overtime goal with an assist from Derek deBoer. Seaforth also managed to score two goals in the overtime practice. This was a great opportunity for coaches to see how their teams can perform and who works well together in a tight game situation. Blyth’s Tyler Hallahan had a great game in net earning a shutout in regulation time. The defensive team, Murray Dale, Lucas Frawley, Jonathan Haakers, Reinink and Mike Rawlings had a great night, working hard at keeping the ball out of their end. Up the ice There was some entertaining hockey this past weekend as the Brussels Pre-Tykes hosted Milverton for a fun game.
