The Brussels Novice Reps hostedBlyth last Friday night.Brussels started the scoring when Logan Kellington was able to put one in assisted by Delayna Smith and Jamie Perrault. Blyth was quick to light the board shortly after making it 1-1. There was a lot of back-and-forth action for all the game but Blyth was tougher taking an 11-4 win. Blyth goals came off the stick of Cameron Gouthier, one; Brenden Howson, five; Morgan Howson, two; Colton Rodger, two; and Cody Treble with one. Assisting on the goals were Owen Andrews, Morgan Howson and Chad Treble with three. Scoring the other three Brussels goals were Smith with two andWyatt Machan with one.Goalie Derrick Waechter took quite a beating from the Blyth team but made 11 great saves. Brussels will host Minto this Friday night. Blyth picked up a second victory in a home game against Zurich. Scoring in this 6-2 effort were B. Howson and Chad Treble with two apiece, Franklin Marshall and Rodger. Assists went to Dawson Coultes, Gauthier, B. Howson, M. Howson with two and Cody Treble. This coming weekend the team will be competing in the Elma Logan tournament. On Nov. 24 the Blyth Senior Tykes travelled to Brussels. The home team came out on top defeating Blyth 4-1. The lone Blyth goalscorer was Bailey Bos with the assist going to Mitch McNichol. Jared Shearer played well in the Blyth net stopping a couple of breakaways and point blank shots. Coach Jeff Shearer said, “The team played well at times but had a couple of defensive breakdowns that led to Brussels goals.” Blyth welcomed Elma Logan on Sunday. The game went back and forth and resulted in a 3-3 tie. Blyth goalscorers were Shearer, Damon Allen, and Drew Van Wyk with assists going to Shearer, Bos, Allen and Mason Campbell. Jake Gulutzen turned away many Elma Logan scoring chances. The Blyth defence of McNichol, Colin Howson, Ethan Coultes and Parker Gibbings played very well in their own end. The Blyth forwards skated hard and had many scoring chances. Coach Terri Gulutzen was very impressed with the Blyth teams outcome stating, “that we had two games this weekend and the players completed hard and showed great sportsmanship.” Game legs The Brussels and Blyth Tykes faced off for hockey action in a game on Brussels ice early Saturday morning. Sizes to 5XL Plus Tall Brussels downs Blyth 4-1 The Brussels Atom Reps are still playing strong earning two more wins and a tie this past week. They hosted Milverton on Wednesday night. Milverton is a very strong team but so is Brussels. They were neck and neck the entire game. They certainly gave the goalies the workout. The game ended in a 1-1 tie with Mitch Kellington scoring the only Brussels goal, assisted by Hayden Ten Pas. Thursday night saw Brussels travel to Hensall to face-off against the BCH team. BCH was no match for Brussels which skated away with a 4-0 win. Matt McNichol earned his fifth shutout. Scoring for Brussels were Taylor Higgins, unassisted with her first goal of the season; Lexi Smith, assisted by Kellington and Nic Zwep, assisted by Ten Pas. Saturday they travelled to Goderich. Again, Brussels came out on top with a 7-2 win. Scoring were Ten Pas, assisted by Zwep and Luke McCutcheon; Kellington, unassisted; Tim Waechter, assisted by Kellington; Ten Pas assisted by Smith; Smith, unassisted; Kellington assisted by Waechter; and Luke McCutcheon with his first goal of the season. Scoring in the first period was Owen Weber, with Jimmy Lane earning the assist. Milverton then came back to tie the game. In the second period Lane put one in, with assists going to Brenden Hallahan and Weber. Milverton again scored to tie the game at 2-2. The third period again brought Blyth ahead with Brandon Marshall tucking one between the pipes. Assists went to Lane and Daymien Brak. Great goaltending came from Dalton Carey. On Nov. 21 Brussels travelled to Blyth. Blyth came away undefeated. Scoring for Blyth was Jimmy Lane with two goals. On Saturday, Nov. 24 Blyth travelled to Drayton. Blyth was short a couple of players, but this didn’t deter them. The scoring started in the first period with Lane finding a hole and sneaking the puck past the goaltender. Drayton then came back to tie it up. The final goal was scored in the second period by Lane assisted by Marshall. There was great goaltending by Dustin Treble.
